Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Special rules apply

Electronics are refused in a Lakewood bulky item pickup, so a television, computer, phone or printer does not go out with the couch. The routes are the EDCO transfer station in Signal Hill on designated Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the free Los Angeles County household hazardous waste and e-waste collection events, which any county resident may use.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free to Lakewood residents at the EDCO Signal Hill Saturday drop-off on the published dates, and free to any Los Angeles County resident at the county collection events. Electronics are not accepted in a bulky item pickup, which is a free service for other items.
When & how
Take the devices to the EDCO transfer station at 2755 California Avenue in Signal Hill on one of the designated Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., or check the CleanLA events calendar and call 888-CLEAN-LA for the next county collection event. Contact EDCO on 562-597-0608 to confirm the date, the hours and the accepted items before a trip.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the trash, recycling and green waste carts. Put the items in open cardboard boxes so staff can lift them out, clear the trunk or truck bed before arriving, and erase personal data before handover.

Cart placement for the weekly collection

Carts go to the curb in front of the home before 6 a.m. on the service day, in the street with the wheels against the curb and out of the way of traffic including bike lanes. The arrows on the lid point toward the street, carts stay at least two feet apart and at least three feet from parked cars, mailboxes, trees, telephone poles and other obstructions, and the lids close with nothing packed so tightly that it cannot fall out when the truck lifts the cart. Hot ashes, coals and fireworks never go in a cart.

Six categories the bulky truck will not take

The city lists six refusals for a bulky item pickup: hazardous waste, old auto parts, machinery and other industrial items, oil, grease and other liquids, building materials such as bricks, lumber, roofing materials, dirt and broken concrete, and excessively large items such as whole tree trunks and large limbs. Electronics, fluorescent bulbs, medication and needles are refused as well, and each of those has its own route rather than a place in the pile.

The Christmas weeks run on their own rules

Bulky item pickup pauses for the Christmas tree recycling program after Christmas Day and resumes in January. During that program EDCO collects discarded trees on the regular trash day for one week after Christmas, with ornaments, tinsel and metal or plastic stands removed, wooden stands left in place, nothing bagged, and any tree over six feet cut in half. In the same week EDCO takes extra holiday trash on the regular pickup day at no charge, up to 10 standard size bags about two feet from the cart, with no call needed in advance.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-hauling in Lakewood means driving to the EDCO transfer station at 2755 California Avenue in Signal Hill, which takes large and oversized amounts of brick, used lumber and other material that will not fit the carts or ride the bulky pickup, plus large amounts of clean green waste that can be recycled into mulch and carries a dumping fee. Waste disposal runs Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the redemption value buy-back runs Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the household hazardous waste, electronic waste and sharps drop-off runs on designated Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with no charge and with the 2026 and 2027 dates printed by the city. A mattress or other bulky item is free on the curbside route for a single-family residence, so the transfer station is the paid path for an apartment or condominium household or for oversize material. Construction is regulated separately: a covered project files a Debris Recovery Plan through GreenHalo, has to recycle or salvage at least 65 percent of its nonhazardous debris, and can only use EDCO or self-haul with its own vehicles, which needs the current vehicle registration, current vehicle insurance and a photo of the vehicle with the license plate visible. A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lakewood.

How much does TV removal cost in Lakewood?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Lakewood?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

A Lakewood resident takes them to the EDCO transfer station at 2755 California Avenue in Signal Hill on a designated Saturday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., and the city publishes the full date list for 2026 and 2027 on its hazardous waste page.
