No city page names a mattress, and there is no furniture acceptance outside the two annual cleanup programs, so the reliable routes are the state mattress program: the retailer take back that comes with a new delivery and the participating free drop off locations.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no mattress price and no standing mattress route. A mattress that fits the annual programs would follow their rules, and a unit taken through the state mattress program costs nothing, so confirm with Waste Management at (209) 369-8274 or use a participating drop off location before the unit leaves the house.
When & how
Ask the hauler during business hours whether the next curbside cleanup can take it, or check the mattress program's location search and call the site before hauling. The retailer take back is arranged when a new mattress is ordered.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and wrapped so it stays intact for handling, and keep it out of all three carts. When a new mattress is being delivered, ask the retailer to take the old one, because state law requires the retailer to offer that at no additional cost, with up to 30 days to collect it.
The annual cleanup takes three carts worth, bagged and under 50 pounds
The free curbside cleanup usually runs in April. Residents may set out additional refuse up to the equivalent of three 64 gallon carts, and everything has to be bagged, bundled or boxed with each container weighing under 50 pounds. Dirt, concrete, liquids, toxic or hazardous material, cathode ray tubes and large heavy metals such as auto bodies and engines are refused and should not go into the pile.

Cost & conditions
No charge. California law requires a retailer delivering a new mattress to offer to take back the old one at no additional cost, and participating mattress recycling locations accept units free, though delivery or setup fees for the new product still apply.
Arrange it
Ask the retailer for the take back when the new mattress is ordered, or search the mattress program's locations and call the site before hauling the unit.
The retailer has up to 30 days to collect the old mattress and may refuse a unit that poses a health or safety risk, and the drop off locations are separate from the city's annual cleanup windows.
Lodi's published self haul options are event based. Waste Management's transfer station on East Turner Road hosts the annual e-waste collection events and the annual household hazardous waste event, and it is also where the dollar dump day load goes, up to two cubic yards for a dollar with the voucher the city mails out before the March 15 to April 15 window. For household chemicals the standing option is the county consolidation facility at 7850 South R.A. Bridgeford Street in Stockton, open Thursday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a 15 gallon or 125 pound trip limit.
