Appliances and white goods

Accepted with preparation

Large appliances and other large metal items come off the curb free through the Recycle More program, and the same program takes small household appliances with a cord. A refrigerator, freezer, washer or dryer has to have its door removed or its latch or locking mechanism disabled before pickup so a child cannot be trapped inside.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free through the Recycle More curbside pickup for residential and business customers, scheduled in advance. A refrigerator, freezer, washer or dryer needs its door removed or its latch disabled first, and the Devlin Road gate instead charges per appliance with a separate charge to remove refrigerant.
When & how
Book the Recycle More pickup in advance with Napa Recycling at 707-255-5200, or take the appliance to the Devlin Road gate at 889 Devlin Road in American Canyon, which is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Remove or disable the door on a refrigerator, freezer, washer or dryer, keep the unit out of the carts, and take a refrigerant unit to the Devlin Road gate only if you accept the refrigerant removal charge printed on the price sheet.

Know which of the two curbside routes takes the item

Napa runs two curbside routes for large items. Metal goes free through Recycle More, which takes large appliances, large metal items over 36 inches, electronic waste, bagged clothing and shoes, and cooking oil, and a refrigerator, freezer, washer or dryer has to have its door removed or its latch disabled before pickup. Everything else large and non-metal goes on the bulky item service, which covers up to four items at a rate per service and takes furniture, mattresses and box springs, carpet and padding rolled no longer than six feet and no wider than 18 inches, pallets, plastic furniture, toilets, tires and untreated wood.

Pack the Recycle More load the way the program asks

A Recycle More pickup has to be scheduled in advance and the material has to arrive prepared. Batteries are resident only and cannot be picked up on their own, so a battery pickup has to be combined with another Recycle More item, each positive terminal is taped, and the batteries go out in a sealed clear plastic bag. Fluorescent bulbs and tubes are resident only, have to be in a box with no loose bulbs, and nothing over four feet goes on the truck. Clothing and textiles have to be clean and dry in a tied bag.

Prepare for the Devlin Road gate

The Devlin Road Recycling and Transfer Facility at 889 Devlin Road in American Canyon is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closes on New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, with early closes on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, the day before Thanksgiving, New Year's Eve and Christmas Eve. Loads have to be covered and secured, with an uncovered load fee printed on the price sheet, and payment is by Visa, Mastercard, debit card or cash with identification required for every card payment. A mattress only load of two pieces rides free, while a mattress inside a waste load is priced by weight, and clean concrete or asphalt, clean dirt, mixed construction material and tires each have their own line on the sheet.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Appliance removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Napa.

How much does appliance removal cost in Napa?

A full-size household refrigerator is $109 as a single item. A washing machine is $109, and a dryer is $109. Other appliances have their own catalog prices. Choose each item to see your exact total before booking; disposal and recycling costs are included in the item price.

Can I get same-day appliance pickup in Napa?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Your pickup is scheduled for a day rather than an exact arrival appointment, and we text you before arrival. Have the appliance disconnected and ready outside by your pickup readiness time.

Can you take a washing machine and dryer in one pickup?

Yes. Add one Washing machine and one Dryer so both units are included in the price. They are separate items, even when you bought them as a set. If yours is a single combined unit or the machines still need to be unstacked, contact us before booking to confirm the scope.

Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.

Are appliances picked up free in Napa?

Large appliances and other large metal items are picked up free through the Recycle More program, scheduled in advance with Napa Recycling at 707-255-5200, and the program also takes small household appliances and anything else with a cord. A refrigerator, freezer, washer or dryer must have its door removed or its latch or locking mechanism disabled first. If the unit goes to the Devlin Road gate instead, the price sheet charges per appliance and adds a separate refrigerant removal charge for a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner.Official guidance

Who runs waste collection in Napa?

Napa Recycling and Waste Services collects curbside trash, recycling, yard waste and food scraps for the City of Napa and runs the bulky item, Recycle More and debris box services, with its office and payment center reachable at 707-255-5200. The Napa-Vallejo Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 889A Devlin Road handles chemicals, paint, oil, batteries, bulbs and sharps, and the transfer station that takes self hauled loads is the Devlin Road facility at 889 Devlin Road in American Canyon.Official guidance

What does the Recycle More pickup take?

Free curbside pickup of electronic waste, metal appliances and large metal items, bagged clothing and shoes, and cooking oil, and residents can add batteries and fluorescent bulbs or tubes. A refrigerator, freezer, washer or dryer has to have its door removed or its latch disabled first. Batteries are resident only and cannot be picked up on their own, so a battery pickup has to be combined with another Recycle More item and each terminal is taped and bagged, and bulbs have to be boxed and no longer than four feet.Official guidance

What does it cost to drop a load at Devlin Road?

It depends on the material and the weight. The current price sheet charges a minimum for the first 1000 pounds of waste or construction material and a per ton rate above it, a separate amount per appliance and to remove refrigerant, separate rates for clean concrete, asphalt and dirt, and tire prices that rise with the rim size, plus an uncovered load fee if the load is not secured. A mattress only load of two pieces is free, and antifreeze, car batteries, household batteries, latex paint and used oil or filters are free as well.Official guidance
