Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and other electronics

Accepted with preparation

An electronic is one of the three items the annual bulky allowance can collect, and the Delta household hazardous waste facility also takes electronic waste free, with a list that runs from televisions and monitors to printers, microwaves and stereo equipment. Large appliances are excluded from the hazardous waste route.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. One electronic a calendar year through the bulky item allowance for a household with regular paid garbage service, and free electronic waste drop off for Pittsburg residents with proof of residency at the Delta facility, within its 15 gallon or 125 pound per trip limit.
When & how
Book the bulky pickup with Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery at (925) 682-9113, or take the device to the Delta household hazardous waste facility on the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Wipe or reset anything that stores personal data, keep the device out of the carts, and note that the Delta facility refuses large appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines.

Carts go out by 5 a.m. with the lid closed

Garbage, recycling and organics are collected weekly, and carts have to be at the curb by 5 a.m. on the service day with the contents below the rim and the lid properly closed. Garbage carts are the 64 or 96 gallon brown or black cart, recycling goes in the blue 64 gallon cart, and organics go in the 96 gallon green cart.

One big item a year, or a bagged load twice a year

The bulky allowance takes a single item, under 200 pounds, and it may be an appliance, a large piece of furniture or an electronic. The on-call allowance instead takes up to twelve 32 gallon bags of household garbage or yard waste at 50 pounds or less a bag, with branches bundled no larger than 18 inches by 3 feet, twice a calendar year and at least a week apart. Neither route takes construction material, and the bag route also refuses furniture, carpets, appliances and e-waste.

Batteries, bulbs and chemicals follow their own routes

Household batteries and compact fluorescent bulbs are collected at the curb when scheduled in advance and placed in a labelled clear bag beside the brown garbage cart, and automobile batteries are not taken that way. Used motor oil goes out through the free kit the hauler provides, or to the Delta facility, and every other chemical, including paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, sharps and propane tanks, goes to the Delta household hazardous waste facility rather than any cart or curbside pile.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Pittsburg's city routes are the curb and two drop off locations. The curb takes one bulky item a year under 200 pounds, an appliance, large furniture or an electronic, and two bagged loads of garbage or yard waste, twelve bags at a time and no more than 50 pounds a bag. Anything else moves by vehicle: the Delta household hazardous waste facility on the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway takes paint, chemicals, oil, batteries, bulbs, sharps and e-waste free from residents with proof of address on Thursday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the recycling center and transfer station at 1300 Loveridge Road takes self-hauled residential waste, including the appliances the hazardous waste facility refuses, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. A renovation load has no curbside route at all, so it needs a debris box quoted by the hauler or a self-hauled load at the transfer station. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Pittsburg.

How much does TV removal cost in Pittsburg?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Pittsburg?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Pittsburg?

Two published routes: an electronic can be the single item on the annual bulky allowance booked at (925) 682-9113, or the device can be dropped free at the Delta household hazardous waste facility on the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway, which is open Thursday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and takes televisions, monitors, computers, printers, microwaves and similar devices, but not large appliances.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Pittsburg?

Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery collects organics, recyclables and garbage weekly under the city's franchise, and it also runs the bulky, on-call, scrap metal, battery, bulb and oil programs. Customer service is (925) 682-9113, the hauler office is at 555 California Avenue, and the city publishes the franchise agreement and the solid waste sections of the municipal code.Official guidance

Can batteries and light bulbs go out at the curb?

Household batteries and compact fluorescent bulbs are collected at the curb when the resident calls (925) 682-9113 first and places them in a labelled bag or closed container beside the brown garbage cart. Automobile batteries are not collected that way, and fluorescent tubes, paint and chemicals belong at the Delta household hazardous waste facility.Official guidance
