Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Antioch residents have two routes for electronics. Televisions, computer monitors and other devices can be picked up at the curb as a bulky item, or taken free of charge to the Delta household hazardous waste facility, which takes CRT as well as flat panel sets.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. The curb route uses one of the two free large item pickups per residence each year. The Delta Diablo facility is free to residents of Antioch and the other listed East Contra Costa communities with proof of residency.
When & how
Schedule a large item pickup with customer service at 925.685.4711, or take the device to the Delta Diablo facility on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. that is not a listed holiday.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers and phones before they leave the house. Move loose rechargeable batteries to the rechargeable battery program rather than the curb pile, and keep electronics out of all three carts, because the recycle cart excludes hazardous waste and the landfill cart excludes recyclable material.

Cart set-out rules for the weekly collection

Place carts out by 6 a.m. or the night before the collection day, next to the curb and at least three feet away from other carts and vehicles. The cart weight limit is 150 pounds, lids have to be completely closed, and a resident may be charged for extra material that overflows. Recycling and organics go in loose, with food scraps only in paper or BPI-certified compostable bags.

Every large item pickup has to be scheduled first

The large item pickup is not a standing collection day. Residents get two of them free each year and have to arrange each one in advance through customer service or the online account tools, then put the item at the curb on the confirmed day. Extra pickups within the same year are collected for a fee.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Antioch keeps most bulky items on the curb rather than sending residents to a gate. The franchised hauler gives each household two free large item pickups a year for appliances, furniture, mattresses, tires and electronics, plus two free garbage cleanups and three free recycling or green waste cleanups, and every one of them has to be scheduled in advance through customer service at 925.685.4711. What a household would haul itself is household hazardous waste and electronic waste, which goes free of charge to the Delta Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 2550 Pittsburg-Antioch Hwy in Pittsburg, entered in mapping apps as 2550 Arcy Ln in Antioch, open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for residents of Antioch and the other listed East Contra Costa communities who show proof of residency. Containers must be five gallons or smaller and one vehicle is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds per visit. Large appliances, tires and construction material are refused there, so a renovation load needs a private container and a tire goes to the curb pickup instead.
