Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, computers, monitors, microwaves, copiers, fax machines and stereos are collected at the curb for residential accounts, and Orange County residents can also drop electronics free at a household hazardous waste center.

City cost & eligibility
Electronics ride the same curbside pickup allowance as other bulky items, which the City page and the rate schedule describe differently, so confirm whether the pickup is free and how many items it covers when you book with Republic Services at (714) 238-3300. The county household hazardous waste centers take electronic waste free instead, and the closest one to Placentia is the Anaheim center.
When & how
Book a curbside pickup at (714) 238-3300, or take the material to a county household hazardous waste center between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Get it ready
Keep batteries and electronic waste out of all three carts, because batteries are a leading cause of fires in the waste system and cannot go to a landfill. Clear personal data from a computer, phone or drive before it leaves the property, and expect a per trip transportation limit at the county center.

Right place.

A bulky pickup is booked, and the items go to the curb

Call Republic Services at (714) 238-3300 to book the pickup, then put the items at the curb, because the published note for the bulk program is that items must be placed at curbside. Confirm the free pickup count and the item allowance when you book, since the City page and the rate schedule give different counts.

Hazardous waste goes to a county center

Paint, solvents, cleaners, motor oil and filters, antifreeze, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, pool supplies, thermostats and expired medicine cannot go in any cart or on a bulky pile. The closest county household hazardous waste center to Placentia is the Anaheim center at 1071 N. Blue Gum Street, which is free for Orange County residents and open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bulky pickup on a multi-family or commercial account

A resident of a multi-family property with bin service, or a commercial account, that needs a large item removed.

Cost & conditions
$67.13 for the fee the City publishes for a multi-family or commercial bulky item pickup of two items, with additional items costing more. Multi-family residents with bin service and commercial customers. This is a different published arrangement from the single family allowance, and additional items carry an extra cost.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Placentia has no city transfer station or public dump, so the self-haul route a resident actually uses is the county household hazardous waste program. The closest center is the Anaheim Collection Center at 1071 N. Blue Gum Street, free for Orange County residents, open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed on major holidays and during rainy weather, where paint, solvents, cleaners, motor oil and filters, antifreeze, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, pool supplies, thermostats, expired medicine and consumer electronics are accepted within a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle per trip. Everything else leaves the curb: the hauler collects furniture, beds, couches, chairs, washers, dryers, stoves, lawnmowers, appliances and electronics at the curb by appointment. A construction or cleanout load goes into one of the three yard to thirty yard rental containers the City lists for residential cleanups and construction debris, and a covered project also has to meet the City's 65% diversion requirement and file its waste management plan.
