A clear count. An exact price.

Count the bags and boxes, not everything inside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.

Filled bags and boxes

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.

Empty cardboard and containers

Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Furniture and other larger items

Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulky items and who collects them

Special rules apply

Erie publishes no town-wide bulky item pickup, because every home here is served by a private hauler the town licenses, so the pickup policy and the price are set by your own provider.

City cost & eligibility
The town licenses the haulers that serve Erie and requires volume pricing, unlimited curbside recycling and curbside organics under Ordinance 15-2020, but it publishes no bulky item programme, because a 2022 communitywide contract was not awarded. Confirm the bulky item policy, the item limit and the price directly with the hauler on your account, or route the load to the Front Range Landfill or a town clean-up event.
When & how
Watch for the twice-yearly spring and fall clean-up events the town runs with vendors at the Leon A. Wurl Service Center, and check your own hauler's bulky item terms in the meantime. Large loads that no hauler will take can go to the Front Range Landfill on Weld County Road 5 during its operating hours.
Get it ready
Keep anything that contains refrigerant, plus batteries, paint, oil, tires and electronic waste, out of a general bulky pile, because the landfill, the Recycling Center and the state all refuse those categories. Tarp and secure any load that goes to the landfill, and bring a reflective vest if you will step out of the vehicle.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

A couch, loveseat or sectional is named in the Front Range Landfill's accepted list at a published per item rate, and the ARC station takes reusable furniture, so furniture has a landfill route and a donation route even without a town pickup.

City cost & eligibility
$74 per couch, loveseat or sectional delivered to the Front Range Landfill. Open to the public at the Front Range Landfill. A car load is charged 141 dollars, a pickup 175 dollars when the waste stays below the top of the cab and 236 dollars above it, and uncovered loads are charged double, so ask which rate applies to your vehicle.
When & how
Take the furniture to the Front Range Landfill on Weld County Road 5, open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., or donate it to the ARC station if it is still in reusable condition. Ask your own hauler first, because some providers take furniture as a bulky item.
Get it ready
Empty the drawers and remove cushions and loose parts, keep the item out of the recycling carts, and tarp the load for the landfill or the load is charged double. Bring a reflective safety vest if you will get out of the vehicle, and keep reusable furniture clean enough for the ARC station's condition rules.

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

Mattresses and box springs are accepted at the Front Range Landfill at a published per item rate, taken at the town clean-up events on a published bedding fee schedule, and accepted at the Boulder hard-to-recycle facility for an item fee.

City cost & eligibility
$74 per mattress or box spring delivered to the Front Range Landfill. Open to the public at the Front Range Landfill. A car load is charged 141 dollars, a pickup 175 dollars when the waste stays below the top of the cab and 236 dollars above it, and the clean-up events price bedding separately.
When & how
Take the unit to the Front Range Landfill on Weld County Road 5, open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., or wait for a spring or fall clean-up event at the Leon A. Wurl Service Center. The town also links a year-round mattress pickup service, A Bedder World, for residents who would rather pay for a collection.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and out of the carts, load it separately so the landfill can price it per unit, and tarp the load or it is charged double. Mouldy or infested bedding is refused by the hard-to-recycle facility, so ask the landfill or your hauler how that kind of bedding has to travel.

Appliances without refrigerant

Accepted with preparation

The Front Range Landfill recycles white goods including dishwashers, dryers, furnaces, hot water heaters, stoves and washers at a published per item rate, while refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are refused there and need the refrigerant route.

City cost & eligibility
$80 per white good delivered to the Front Range Landfill for recycling. Open to the public at the Front Range Landfill, which names dishwashers, dryers, furnaces, hot water heaters, stoves and washers in its white goods recycling list. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are not accepted there.
When & how
Take the appliance to the Front Range Landfill on Weld County Road 5, open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and keep a refrigerant unit out of the load entirely. The town Recycling Center accepts mixed metals but names household appliances among the items it does not accept.
Get it ready
Empty the unit, remove or secure the doors, and take the appliance to the white goods area rather than leaving it in a mixed household load. Keep anything that once held refrigerant out of both the landfill load and the Recycling Center.

Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners

Special rules apply

A unit that contains refrigerant is refused at the Front Range Landfill and at the town Recycling Center, and it moves through the town clean-up events, the Boulder hard-to-recycle facility or a Weld County appliance scrap option.

City cost & eligibility
$45 per refrigerator, freezer or air conditioning unit collected by the town's clean-up vendor regardless of refrigerant. Erie residents at the town's spring and fall clean-up events, which publish the flat refrigerant unit rate through Eco-Cycle. The Boulder hard-to-recycle facility charges a facility fee plus an item fee instead, and Weld County lists appliance scrap yards that may require professional coolant removal first.
When & how
Book the unit into a spring or fall clean-up event at the Leon A. Wurl Service Center, take it to the Boulder hard-to-recycle facility on Arapahoe Road during its Monday to Saturday hours, or call one of the Weld County appliance scrap options before the unit leaves the property.
Get it ready
Empty and defrost the unit, take the doors off so it cannot be entered, and confirm with the receiving site that it will take a refrigerant unit and what paperwork it wants. Do not put a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner out with a mixed household load or in a curbside bulky pile.

Televisions, computers and small electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronic devices have been banned from Colorado landfills since July 2013 and the Front Range Landfill refuses them, so televisions and computers move through the town clean-up events, the Boulder hard-to-recycle facility or the state's recycler list.

City cost & eligibility
The town publishes a flat per television fee at its clean-up events, which is recorded on the clean-up option, but it publishes no separate cost for other electronics because each vendor sets its own price. The Boulder hard-to-recycle facility charges a facility fee plus an item fee for displays and televisions and no item fee for computers and phones.
When & how
Take electronics to a spring or fall clean-up event at the Leon A. Wurl Service Center, where the town's vendor takes monitors, computers, laptops, phones, printers, copiers, stereos, servers and toner, or use the Boulder hard-to-recycle facility on Arapahoe Road from Monday to Saturday. The town points to the state's electronic waste list for further year-round options.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors, computers and microwaves out of every cart, out of the landfill load and out of a curbside bulky pile, and wipe personal data before the device leaves the house. Remove bulbs from lamps and housings where the receiving site asks for it.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

A treadmill without its computer is named in the Front Range Landfill's accepted list, which is the only explicit acceptance for exercise equipment here, and every other machine stays a confirm item.

City cost & eligibility
From $141 per car load of household waste at the Front Range Landfill, with a pickup charged 175 dollars when the waste stays below the top of the cab and 236 dollars above it. Open to the public at the Front Range Landfill, which names a treadmill without its computer among the accepted items. Uncovered or unsecured loads are charged double.
When & how
Take a treadmill to the Front Range Landfill on Weld County Road 5, open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and confirm any other machine with the landfill office or your own hauler before loading it.
Get it ready
Remove the console or computer from a treadmill before the trip, because the landfill names a treadmill without its computer and electronic parts travel by their own route. Break a machine down only where it can be handled safely, and tarp the load so it is not charged double.

Construction and demolition debris

Accepted with preparation

The Front Range Landfill accepts construction debris, concrete and asphalt, and wood, concrete, drywall, siding and dirt at published tonnage rates, and Resource Central takes reusable building material on a weekly Erie pickup.

City cost & eligibility
From $196 for minimum charge for a load of wood, concrete, drywall, siding or dirt weighed at 98 dollars per ton at the Front Range Landfill. Open to the public at the Front Range Landfill, where every vehicle weighs in and out and a separate 196 dollar minimum applies on the same tonnage rate to household and municipal waste. Uncovered or unsecured loads are charged double.
When & how
Take renovation debris to the Front Range Landfill on Weld County Road 5, open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., or offer reusable building and construction material to Resource Central, which runs a weekly pickup in Erie and asks for a picture and description first.
Get it ready
Keep concrete, drywall, siding, roofing and framing out of the carts and out of the town Recycling Center, tarp and secure every load or it is charged double, and separate reusable material from rubble before the trip. Ask the landfill office about roofing shingles and mixed loads, and confirm unit pricing for anything unusual.

Every home here contracts its own licensed hauler

All homes in Erie are provided waste hauling services by private companies, and the town licenses the haulers that may operate here. Ordinance 15-2020 requires volume based pricing tiers with a 32-gallon minimum, unlimited curbside recycling included in the monthly cost, and curbside organics, and it requires each hauler to report diversion, meet equipment standards and carry insurance. A 2022 request for proposals for a communitywide contract was not awarded, and multi-family buildings with eight residential units or more are not required to take part.

The Recycling Center is free, resident only and does not take bulky goods

The town Recycling Center at 1000 Briggs Street is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week, holiday and weather permitting, and dropping off accepted materials is free to Erie residents who show proof of residency. It takes single-stream recycling, flattened cardboard, yard waste and food scraps, mixed metals and gently used clothing and shoes, but it does not accept furniture, mattresses, rugs, carpet or household appliances, and it refuses Freon units, tanks, oil filters, asbestos and radioactive material. Visitors check in with staff, unload their own material and leave nothing outside the bins.

Landfill loads are tarped, weighed and priced by vehicle

The Front Range Landfill inside Erie is open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Sundays and on some holidays. All vehicles weigh in and out on certified scales, and the landfill prices a car load, a pickup load below the top of the cab, and a pickup load above the cab at different flat rates, with tonnage rates and minimum charges for household waste and for wood, concrete, drywall, siding and dirt. Loads must be covered, tarped and secured or they are charged double, and anyone who gets out of a vehicle needs a reflective safety vest.

The landfill refuses refrigerant units, electronics and hazardous material

The Front Range Landfill does not accept refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, batteries, electronic waste, hazardous waste, hot ashes, liquids including paint and oil, mercury fluorescent bulbs, propane containers, tires or toxic waste. Electronic devices have been banned from Colorado landfill disposal since July 1, 2013. Those categories move to the town clean-up events, the Boulder hard-to-recycle facility, the Boulder County hazardous waste facility or the Weld County sites, so plan the load in two parts rather than mixing them.

Town of Erie, licensed private haulers and Waste Connections

Ask the hauler on your account

An Erie household that already pays a licensed hauler and would rather have the item collected from the property than move it.

Cost & conditions
The town licenses the haulers that serve Erie and requires volume pricing, unlimited recycling and organics, but each company sets its own bulky item policy and price, so there is no published town rate to quote. Confirm the item, the limit and the charge with your provider.
Arrange it
Call the company that collects your carts, which is one of the haulers the town licenses: Wompost, One Way, Republic Services, Waste Connections, Western Disposal or WM. The town answers questions about the hauling rules through ContactUs@erieco.gov.

Only some haulers offer bulky collection, the item lists and prices vary between them, and the town publishes no communitywide contract because a 2022 request for proposals was not awarded. Anything a hauler declines still has to move through the landfill or a clean-up event.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Erie has no town collection, so start with the hauler on your account: every home here is served by a private company the town licenses, and the town requires volume pricing, unlimited curbside recycling and organics but publishes no bulky item policy, because a 2022 communitywide contract was not awarded. Anything a hauler will not take can go to the Front Range Landfill inside Erie on Weld County Road 5, open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., where a car load is charged a flat rate, tonnage loads of household waste or of wood, concrete, drywall, siding and dirt are charged by weight with a minimum, a couch or a mattress is charged per item and white goods are recycled for a per item fee. Tarp and secure every load or it is charged double, and bring a reflective safety vest. The landfill refuses refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, batteries, electronic waste, hazardous waste, liquids, propane and tires, so those split off: the town clean-up events take electronics, mattresses and bedding, tires and refrigerant units with published amounts, the Boulder Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials takes mattresses, electronics and refrigerant appliances for a facility fee plus item fees, and paint, chemicals, batteries, motor oil and sharps go free to the Boulder County facility at 1901 63rd Street, with Weld County sites for Weld side addresses. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Erie.

How much does bulk junk removal cost in Erie?

A trash bag is $59 as the first item and $10 additional. A filled household box is $59 as the first item. Add your actual items and quantities to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax is shown before payment.

Can you pick up bags of junk today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?

No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.

Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?

Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.

Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?

Who picks up bulky items in Erie?

No town programme does. Every home in Erie is served by a private company the town licenses, so the bulky item terms come from your own hauler, and the town answers curbside questions by pointing residents back to their provider. If no hauler will take the load, the Front Range Landfill inside Erie and the town's spring and fall clean-up events are the other routes.Official guidance

There is no town curbside bulky programme, so the curb route is whatever your own licensed hauler offers.
