Filled bags and boxes

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.

Empty cardboard and containers

Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Furniture and other larger items

Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Furniture is refused at the city scrap metal container, so a usable piece goes to Resource Central for reuse and an unusable piece is priced with the hauler on the account.

City cost & eligibility
Donating furniture in good condition to the reuse center at 6400 Arapahoe Road costs nothing to drop off, and the county directory notes the reuse center can also collect material with the pickup quoted by the organization. An unusable piece has no municipal route, so ask Republic at 303-286-5400 or another licensed hauler for its own price.
When & how
Drop the piece at the reuse center during its open hours, or ask the reuse center at 303-419-5418 about a collection, and call the hauler only if the piece is not fit for reuse.
Get it ready
The city scrap metal container refuses furniture, so do not take a couch or a chair there. Clean the piece and keep it dry so the reuse center can accept it, and confirm that any upholstered item is in resale condition before loading.

A mattress or box spring goes to the Boulder County hard-to-recycle site for a published per unit charge, and the county directory also lists a transfer station that takes them.

From $30 for one mattress or box spring at the hard-to-recycle site. A mattress or box spring is charged 30.00 each, a foam topper 10.00, and a box spring with two or more pieces is charged proportionally as multiple units, all on top of the 3.00 facility fee per vehicle. The county construction and demolition directory also lists Western Disposal at 5880 Butte Mill Rd. as accepting mattresses and box springs without publishing a fee.

Water heaters and metal appliances go into the city scrap metal container, where the city publishes no rate, while a refrigerant appliance carries the county hard-to-recycle site's per unit charge.

City cost & eligibility
From $3 for the facility fee charged for each vehicle entering the hard-to-recycle site. Items that are at least 50 percent metal by weight and free of refrigerant are covered by the facility fee alone, and a refrigerant appliance such as a refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner or dehumidifier is charged 45.00 each on top of it. The city scrap metal container takes water heaters and metal appliances at no charge, and Western Disposal is listed in the county directory as accepting large appliances without a published fee.
When & how
Take a metal appliance or water heater to the city scrap metal container at Empire Road and State Highway 42, or take a refrigerant unit to 6400 Arapahoe Rd. during its open hours.
Get it ready
A refrigerant unit cannot go in the city scrap container, because the container does not accept refrigerant appliances and the county site handles them with a charge and an extraction step. Ask the hauler first, then ask the county site whether the machine fits one of its metal or electronic categories, and only then load it.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will come apart and keep the loose weights with it. A metal frame with no refrigerant and at least half metal by weight is the best case at the county site, and a machine with a large plastic housing or an internal battery may fall into an electronics category with a per pound charge instead.

Louisville publishes no municipal construction collection, so a project load moves through a Boulder County facility, a transfer station or a private container.

City cost & eligibility
No municipal rate covers construction material in Louisville. Reusable building material in good condition can be offered to the reuse center, whose donation terms the county does not publish, so confirm what it takes, while heavy material dropped at the county hard-to-recycle site is charged by weight or per fixture, with ceramics and concrete at 0.10 per pound and a toilet, sink or urinal at 5.00 without fixtures or 25.00 with them. Not on the regular city route

Tires are refused at the city scrap metal container and at the county hard-to-recycle site, which takes bicycle tires only, so the route is a retailer or a paid haul.

City cost & eligibility
No municipal tire collection and no published residential rate exist for Louisville. The city container accepts metals and water heaters only, and the county hard-to-recycle site states plainly that it cannot recycle automotive tires or any tire other than bicycle tires, so the price comes from the tire retailer that takes the tire or from a private hauler.

The city container at the RV Dump Station on Empire Road at State Highway 42 takes scrap metal, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, stainless steel, steel and water heaters, and it is monitored around the clock. It refuses chemicals, electronics, furniture, hazardous waste, household garbage, paint cans, solvents and liquids, and yard or landscaping material, so those loads have to go to the county sites instead.

The county directory lists the reuse center as a drop-off point for donations of new and used building and household material in good condition, but it publishes no donation fee or terms and a collection is quoted by the organization, so confirm what it takes and whether anything is charged on 303-419-5418 before loading.

Only material in good condition is accepted for resale, so a worn out piece has to be priced with a hauler instead. Large appliances are taken for reuse only when they still work.

Louisville keeps its own drop off sites for metal and yard waste and sends everything else hard to recycle into Boulder County. The city container at the RV Dump Station on Empire Road at State Highway 42 takes scrap metal, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, stainless steel, steel and water heaters, but it refuses chemicals, electronics, furniture, hazardous waste, household garbage, paint cans, solvents and liquids and yard material. Woody yard waste goes to the city branch site north of the Louisville Cemetery, leaves and grass clippings go to the Sports Complex leaf drop from October 20 to November 23, and Republic customers can put yard trimmings in the compost cart. Do I count every object inside a bag or box?

No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.

Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?

Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.

Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?

Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items.
