A single-family Northglenn household can have up to ten bulky items that will not fit in the trash cart picked up from the street, with two free special pickups a calendar year and a per request charge after that.

No charge. Two free special pickups a calendar year for a single-family residence, up to ten bulky items each. An additional special pickup costs $100 per request, and tires and mattresses carry their own item charges, all billed on the trash account.

Get it ready
Put the items in the street, because the crews will not collect from a sidewalk or a driveway, and list every piece when the pickup is requested, because crews take only what is on the ticket. Keep bags of trash, cardboard boxes, electronics, construction material, fencing, hot tubs, pianos, sheds, camper shells and yard waste out of the pile, and remove tires from their rims before they go out.
A special pickup is confirmed before anything goes out
The request has to reach the sanitation division at least 48 hours before the scheduled trash day, and it has to list every item, because crews collect only what is on the special pickup ticket. Nothing goes out until the confirmation arrives, and on the day the load has to be in the street by 7 a.m. rather than on a sidewalk or a driveway.
The City collects up to two automotive batteries a week on the scheduled trash day, placed next to the trash cart in the street and never inside the cart. Used motor oil and antifreeze used to be collected the same way, up to five gallons a week in clear one-gallon containers marked with the address and with taped lids, but the City states that from July 1, 2026 it no longer accepts either at the curb.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Tree branches, tree stumps, leaves and grass clippings from Northglenn single-family residences, most of which the City turns into mulch, plus scheduled mattress and box spring drop-offs at a published per piece rate.
Northglenn single-family residences only, with proof of residency being a driver's license or state identification plus a current utility bill. Sod, dirt, mulch and gravel are refused, branches are taken only on the scheduled Saturdays, no commercial vehicles are permitted, trailers must be single axle, and mattress drop-offs need an appointment in advance and identification at the gate.
April through November on the first and third Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and December through March on the first Saturday only, with the City noting that hours and dates are subject to change.
No charge. Free drop-off for Northglenn single-family residences with proof of residency. Mulch is free to residents, the general public and businesses during drop-off hours.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?+
You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Can I still put used motor oil out at the curb?+
No. The City used to collect up to five gallons of used motor oil or antifreeze a week in clear one-gallon containers marked with the address and with taped lids, but it states that from July 1, 2026 it no longer accepts either at the curb. Yes. Mulch is available to residents, the general public and businesses during yard waste drop-off hours, with no identification required and no charge, and the City refills a large pile at the same site.
