Northglenn runs its own sanitation division, so a single-family household can ask the City to take away almost anything. The main route is the special pickup: up to ten bulky items that will not fit in the trash cart, scheduled 48 hours ahead, with two free pickups a calendar year and a per request charge after that. Furniture, appliances without Freon, exercise and sports equipment, lawn equipment, cabinets and doors, bathtubs and mattresses are all accepted, while refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, construction materials, electronics, hot tubs, pianos and yard waste are refused and sent to their own routes. Mattresses and tires carry their own published fees, and the City also runs a free yard waste and mulch site at Claude Court, a roll-off rental for project debris and a list of recyclers for electronics.

Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the recycle cart and off a special pickup pile, because both refuse them. Delete or destroy the data before the device leaves the property, since the City warns that deleting files and reformatting does not guarantee the data is gone, and use disk-wiping software or remove and physically damage the drive.
Construction materials are refused on a special pickup, so a project load goes into a City roll-off rental or to a landfill the City names.

Keep the load level with the top of the container and under the twelve ton limit, and keep electronics, tires, medical waste, mattresses and springs, flammable materials and refrigerant appliances out of the roll-off because they are all refused. The container goes in the street next to the property, or in a driveway when the resident signs a liability waiver, and access has to stay clear for delivery and pickup.
Tree branches, stumps, leaves and grass clippings drop free at the City's yard waste mulching center on scheduled Saturdays, and the resulting mulch is free to anyone.
