Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction material and renovation debris

Special rules apply

Interior do it yourself remodeling debris is accepted in the weekly bulk program within tight limits, while exterior materials and contractor debris are refused and the county no longer takes construction debris.

City cost & eligibility
There is no municipal rate for a construction load. Interior do it yourself remodeling debris is accepted in the bulk program at no extra cost within the limits, while contractor generated waste has to be hauled off by the contractor, and the county states that construction and demolition debris is no longer accepted at the Environmental Park or the rural collection centers, so confirm the destination and price with the contractor or with the Solid Waste Division at 352-334-2330.
When & how
Interior remodeling debris goes out with the weekly bulk collection by 7 a.m. on the collection day and no more than two cubic yards a week, and anything larger or exterior has to be arranged with the contractor before the work starts.
Get it ready
Interior items such as toilets, sinks, cabinets, carpet, rugs, shower doors, mirrors, tiles and glass tabletops are accepted, with carpet rolled no longer than five feet and no heavier than 40 pounds per roll and small scraps in reusable containers rather than bags at 40 pounds or less and two cubic yards or less in total. External home materials such as pallets, pressure treated wood, fencing, deck boards, concrete, bricks, exterior drywall, shingles, gutters, garage doors, windows and metal drums are refused, and insulation has to be rolled or containerized.

Loose garbage, contractor waste, exterior home materials, large miscellaneous items such as pool tables and hot tubs, small items that fit the cart, gas engine equipment, car parts and tires, and hazardous products are all refused. Taking it somewhere yourself?

Gainesville collects garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk items at the curb every week for homes in the city program, and the bulk list is generous: furniture, mattresses, box springs and bed frames, treadmills, bicycles, grills with the tank removed, patio furniture, disassembled trampolines and swing sets, large kid items, garden tools, and interior do it yourself remodeling debris such as toilets, sinks, cabinets, carpet and glass tabletops within two cubic yards a week. Bulk items go out by 7 a.m. on the collection day, within four feet of the curb and with four feet of clearance from the garbage cart, and anything still out after noon the next day can be reported at 352-334-2330. Appliances and large electronics are different: both are collected by appointment on the regular garbage day at no additional cost, the appliance request is due by noon the day before, the electronics request by 10 a.m. the day before with a ten item limit, and small devices such as phones and keyboards have to be carried to a county drop off center instead. Paint, chemicals, batteries, motor oil and small electronics go free to the Alachua County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 5125 NE 63rd Ave., open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tires and heavy scrap go to the county's Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station at 5115 NE 63rd Ave., open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., where tires are charged at published tonnage and per tire rates, a Freon containing appliance is 25.00 each, and construction and demolition debris is no longer accepted at all. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Gainesville.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Gainesville?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Gainesville?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can remodeling debris go out with the Gainesville bulk pickup?

Only interior do it yourself debris, and only within limits: toilets, sinks, cabinets, carpet, rugs, shower doors, mirrors, tiles and glass tabletops, capped at two cubic yards a week with no piece longer than five feet or heavier than 40 pounds. Carpets go out in rolls no longer than five feet and no heavier than 40 pounds each, small scraps go in reusable containers rather than bags, and exterior materials and contractor waste are refused entirely.Official guidance

Does the county take construction debris?

No. The Alachua County Environmental Park and transfer station states that construction and demolition debris is no longer accepted there or at the rural collection centers, and the park also refuses asbestos, bio medical waste and liquid waste. A contractor working on the property is responsible for hauling the debris away.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Gainesville?

The City of Gainesville Solid Waste Division collects garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk waste for homes inside the city's Residential Curbside Service Program, and the division can be reached at 352-334-2330. The solid waste assessment that funds the service moved from utility billing to non ad valorem property taxes, and most residential customers also received a new collection day.Official guidance

How does the weekly bulk collection work?

Bulk waste is collected curbside on the regular garbage day, so no appointment and no extra cost are involved. Items go out by 7 a.m., stay within four feet of the curb, and sit at least four feet from the garbage cart, and collection can happen any time up to noon the following day.Official guidance

How do I get an appliance collected?

Book an appliance collection appointment online or at 352-334-2330 by noon the day before the regular collection day, and the pickup happens on that regular garbage day at no additional cost. Refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers, hot water heaters and window air conditioners are accepted, while whole house air conditioners, pool equipment, small kitchen appliances, vacuum cleaners and generators are refused.Official guidance

Where do paint and chemicals go in Gainesville?

To the Alachua County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 5125 NE 63rd Ave., open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., or to one of the five county rural collection centers. Hazardous waste never goes in the trash, out at the curb or down a drain, and Florida bans landfilling motor oil, car batteries, fluorescent bulbs, mercury, medical waste, tires, white goods and yard waste.Official guidance

Where does yard waste and heavy material go?

Yard waste is part of the weekly curbside collection, and heavy or special material goes to the Alachua County Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station at 5115 NE 63rd Ave., open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. The park takes vegetative wood debris, tires, unusable appliances and scrap metal such as bicycles, grills and lawn mowers, but it no longer accepts construction and demolition debris and also refuses asbestos, bio medical waste and liquid waste.Official guidance
