The local disposal guide

Will the city
take it?

Naples runs its own collection, and the rule that separates the bulky program from most cities is the appointment. Trash comes twice a week from a 30 gallon container, recycling and horticultural waste come once a week, and furniture, appliances and Type III construction and demolition debris leave the curb only on a date the City schedules after a call at least 48 hours ahead to 239-213-4700. The City also keeps a firm line on what it will not take. Electronics do not ride with the garbage, the curbside crews collect no debris cut by a landscaper, and anything hazardous stays out of every container. Collier County's drop-off centers, one of them at 2640 Corporate Flight Dr. in Naples, take electronics, household chemicals, batteries, bulbs and paint instead, and its landfill handles larger self haul loads by weight.

Twice weekly household garbage

Accepted with preparation

Household trash is collected twice a week from a plastic container no larger than 30 gallons, and the City also offers side door collection on request.

City cost & eligibility
The residential collection charge sits inside the City utility bill along with water and sewer, and the City publishes the amount only inside dated rate sheets linked from the Finance billing and collection page, where the sheet effective 10-1-25 is the current one. Confirm the current residential solid waste charge with the Solid Waste Division at 239-213-4700.
When & how
Twice a week on the household's collection days, in by 7:00 a.m. on each collection day and out of the collection point by 7:00 p.m. the same day after pickup. Pickup runs on every holiday except New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas, when the collection moves to the following day.
Get it ready
Use a plastic container closed at one end with a tight fitting solid lid and a capacity of no more than 30 gallons, and put nothing on top of or beside a container, because loose material may be collected and thrown out with the trash. Hazardous or liquid waste never goes in a container, and side door collection is available for a resident who needs the refuse left next to the house, garage or carport.

Furniture and bulky household items

Accepted with preparation

Furniture and other bulky household items leave the curb only on a date the City schedules, after an appointment booked at least 48 hours ahead.

City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no separate curbside bulk rate. The bulk collection is part of the residential solid waste service billed with water and sewer, and the amount is published only inside the dated rate sheets linked from the Finance billing and collection page, so confirm the appointment and any charge with the Solid Waste Division at 239-213-4700.
When & how
Collected only on specific dates the City schedules. Call 239-213-4700 to arrange the date, and the appointment has to be booked at least 48 hours before the requested day. Material cannot go to the curb more than 24 hours before that date and has to be out by 7:00 a.m.
Get it ready
Set the items out together in one pile at the collection point so the scheduled crew can take them in a single visit, and keep the pile off the sidewalk and away from the roadway. Nothing goes to the curb more than 24 hours before the scheduled date, because material set out early may be treated as a nuisance rather than a scheduled pickup.

Mattresses and bedding

Special rules apply

A mattress is not named in the City bulk categories, so the piece is confirmed with the division when the appointment is booked.

City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no separate rate for bedding and does not name a mattress among the bulk categories of furniture, appliances and Type III construction and demolition debris. A mattress is normally treated as household furniture, but confirm the item and any charge with the Solid Waste Division at 239-213-4700 when the appointment is booked.
When & how
If the mattress is confirmed, it goes out with the scheduled bulk date, at the curb by 7:00 a.m. and no more than 24 hours before it.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and wrap it so the scheduled crew can lift it without debris falling out, and set it out with the rest of the load rather than on its own so one visit covers everything. Ask when you call whether a box spring, an adjustable base or a bed frame counts as the same item or as separate pieces against the load.

Appliances and refrigerators

Accepted with preparation

Appliances are named in the City bulk categories and leave the curb on a scheduled date, and the county landfill is the self haul route for a unit taken in by truck.

City cost & eligibility
From $81.05 for the published residential rate per ton for appliances and metal goods at the Collier County landfill, with separate published per ton rates for bulky items such as furniture and for construction and demolition debris. Collier County residential customers delivering to the landfill at 3730 White Lake Blvd, which is open Monday to Saturday and takes hand unloaded material until 4:15 p.m. The City curbside appliance pickup is part of the scheduled bulk appointment and its charge is confirmed with the Solid Waste Division instead.
When & how
With the scheduled bulk date at the curb, booked at least 48 hours ahead on 239-213-4700 and out by 7:00 a.m., or taken to the county landfill during its weekday and Saturday hours.
Get it ready
Remove the door so a child cannot be trapped inside, empty the unit completely, and ask the Solid Waste Division when the appointment is booked whether a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner holding gas needs degassing or tagging first, because the City publishes no refrigerant step for the curbside pickup. The county charges for freon handling per item at its own sites, so confirm that cost before a self haul visit.

Televisions and household electronics

Not on the regular city route

Electronics are not collected curbside in the city, and the county recycling drop-off center at 2640 Corporate Flight Dr. takes them free for households.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Collier County residential customers at the recycling drop-off centers, where non television electronics, batteries of every kind, bulbs, household hazardous waste, cooking oil and filters are accepted at no charge, televisions are free for up to three per visit with a published charge for each additional one, and the county applies the same no fee policy to paint and stains up to 200 pounds per day.
When & how
Take the device to a county recycling drop-off center, open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on county holidays. The center named on the City page for Naples is 2640 Corporate Flight Dr., which the City lists as Tuesday through Saturday.
Get it ready
The City does not collect electronics curbside, so nothing electronic goes out with the garbage. The county asks that batteries be taken out of a device and delivered separately, and batteries of every kind including vehicle and marine batteries are accepted at the drop-off centers at no charge. A television counts against the per visit limit, so confirm how many are being brought before a trip.

Construction and demolition material

Special rules apply

Type III construction and demolition debris sits inside the City bulk program by appointment, and a larger project load goes to a county site or with the contractor.

City cost & eligibility
From $15 for the published residential rate per cubic yard for yard waste, household bulk and construction and demolition material at the Collier County recycling drop-off centers, which take a maximum of one cubic yard per visit. Collier County residential customers at the drop-off centers, which exclude that material at the North Collier location and refer larger loads to the county landfill or the Immokalee transfer station. The City curbside route for Type III construction and demolition debris runs through the scheduled bulk appointment instead.
When & how
Through the scheduled City bulk date booked at least 48 hours ahead on 239-213-4700, or at a county drop-off center during its weekday and Saturday hours, with larger loads going to the county landfill or transfer station.
Get it ready
Separate construction material from anything a contractor generated, because debris from the work is the contractor's to remove and the City does not collect debris cut by landscape or tree contractors. The county refuses mixed loads of construction and demolition material with other waste, and its drop-off centers cap the material at a single cubic yard per visit, so a project load is planned around the landfill or a permitted hauler.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is named in no City bulk category, so the machine is confirmed with the division before the appointment is booked.

City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no rate for an item it does not name. Exercise equipment is not in the bulk categories of furniture, appliances and Type III construction and demolition debris, so call the Solid Waste Division at 239-213-4700 and confirm whether the machine is accepted and what it counts as before the bulk date is booked.
When & how
Confirm with the Solid Waste Division first, then use the scheduled bulk date booked at least 48 hours ahead, with the machine at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
Get it ready
Describe the machine when you call, including whether it folds and how much of the curb it takes, and take off any loose weights or console so the crew can handle it. Break down what comes apart and keep the pieces together in one pile rather than setting them out on separate days.
City Solid Waste Division page with the twice weekly trash, weekly recycling and yard waste, the appointment based bulk program and the electronics drop off

Horticultural and yard waste

Accepted with preparation

Yard and horticultural waste is collected once a week in paper bags or an open lidless can, and the City does not take debris cut by a landscaper.

City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no separate horticultural waste rate. The weekly collection is part of the residential solid waste service billed with water and sewer, and the amounts appear only inside the dated rate sheets linked from the Finance billing and collection page, so confirm the charge with the Solid Waste Division at 239-213-4700.
When & how
Once a week on the collection day, within 6 ft. of the curb and out by 7:00 a.m., with the debris kept clear of low trees and wires, storm drains, hydrants and cable boxes.
Get it ready
Use paper yard waste bags or an open can without a lid, and keep plastic bags out of the stream. Trucks need 18 ft. of clearance above the pile, so nothing is stacked under low limbs or wires. Debris cut or generated by a landscaping or tree contractor has to be removed by that contractor, and trimmings stay on the property rather than at the curb until the scheduled collection day.
City Solid Waste Division page with the twice weekly trash, weekly recycling and yard waste, the appointment based bulk program and the electronics drop off

Paint, chemicals and hazardous waste

Not on the regular city route

Hazardous material stays out of every container and goes free to a Collier County drop-off center.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Collier County residential customers at the recycling drop-off centers, free for household hazardous waste such as pesticides, herbicides, pool and cleaning chemicals and mercury devices, along with antifreeze, gasoline, diesel, cooking oil and filters, batteries including vehicle and marine batteries, bulbs, fire extinguishers, flares, polystyrene and sharps in an approved container. Paint and stains are free up to 200 pounds per day with a published charge above that.
When & how
Drop off during center hours, Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on county holidays, at the Naples center at 2640 Corporate Flight Dr. or another county location. Hazardous material that needs a special route goes to the county hazardous materials drop-off center at 3730 White Lake Blvd.
Get it ready
Keep hazardous material out of the trash, the recycling cart and the yard waste pile, because the City prohibits hazardous or liquid waste in its containers. Bring sharps in an approved plastic container, keep paint and stains within the daily weight limit, and note that business and commercial hazardous waste is handled under a separate county program rather than at the household drop-off.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Book the bulky date, then wait for it

Bulky items are collected only on dates the City schedules, so the pickup starts with a call to 239-213-4700 and the appointment has to be made at least 48 hours before the requested day. Nothing goes to the curb more than 24 hours before that date, and everything has to be out by 7:00 a.m. Set the load out together so one scheduled visit takes it all.

Know the clock for each collection

Trash goes out twice a week in a container no larger than 30 gallons and is collected the same day it is set out, with the container out by 7:00 a.m. and removed by 7:00 p.m. Recycling goes out once a week in the City issued blue cart, and horticultural waste once a week within 6 ft. of the curb in paper bags or an open lidless can.

Contractor debris is the contractor's

The City does not collect debris cut or generated by a landscaping or tree contractor, and the county refuses construction and demolition material mixed with other waste. Small do it yourself debris that fits in the green lidded cart is the county rule for its own customers, and anything larger goes with the contractor, to the county landfill or to a permitted hauler instead of the curb.

Electronics are not collected curbside and go to a county recycling drop-off center at 2640 Corporate Flight Dr. in Naples, where batteries have to be removed from a device and television counts against a per visit limit. Household chemicals, paint, batteries, bulbs and fire extinguishers go to the same drop-off centers at no charge for residential households, and nothing hazardous or liquid goes in a container or the yard waste pile.

City of Naples Solid Waste Division with Collier County Solid and Hazardous Waste Management

Scheduled City bulky pickup

A household with furniture, an appliance or another large item that will not fit the 30 gallon trash container.

Cost & conditions
The City publishes no separate curbside bulk charge. The collection belongs to the residential solid waste service billed with water and sewer, and the amount appears only inside the dated rate sheets linked from the Finance billing and collection page, so confirm the charge with the Solid Waste Division at 239-213-4700.
Arrange it
Call 239-213-4700 at least 48 hours before the day you want, confirm the items, then set the load at the collection point by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled date and no more than 24 hours ahead of it.

The items have to be ones the City will take on the bulk route, and hazardous or liquid waste, tires and heavy steel are not part of it. A commercial container may not be used for appliances or construction and demolition debris either.

Permitted hauler or roll off container

A household or contractor with a project load, or with debris a contractor generated that the City will not pick up.

Arrange it
Describe the material and where it will be staged, and confirm the destination before the load leaves the property.

Debris from a contractor's work at the home is the contractor's to remove, and the City prohibits construction and demolition debris, appliances, tires, hazardous waste, liquid waste and heavy steel in commercial containers.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

The City curbside route is the main one inside the city limits, and it runs on an appointment: furniture, appliances and Type III construction and demolition debris leave the curb only on a date the City schedules after a call at least 48 hours ahead, while trash, recycling and horticultural waste follow the weekly calendar. What the curb will not take has a county home. Electronics and household chemicals go to a Collier County recycling drop-off center, one of them at 2640 Corporate Flight Dr. in Naples, where batteries, bulbs, paint, cooking oil and fire extinguishers are also taken free for households, and where a single cubic yard of household bulk or construction and demolition material can be dropped at a published per cubic yard rate. A larger self haul load goes to the county landfill at 3730 White Lake Blvd, which is open six days a week and charges most material by weight, including appliances and metal goods, bulky items and construction and demolition debris. An address outside the city limits runs on the county program instead, with twice weekly household waste, weekly recycling, weekly yard waste and weekly bulky items scheduled through the county customer service line. Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Your booking is for a pickup day, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Do my items need to be outside when I book?

You can book while your items are still inside. Arrange any indoor carrying and have everything outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We load and haul it away from there. Contact us before booking if your property has restricted access.

How does a Naples bulk pickup get scheduled?

By phone. Bulk waste is collected only on specific dates the City schedules, so call 239-213-4700 to arrange the date. The appointment has to be booked at least 48 hours before the requested day, the items do not go to the curb more than 24 hours before it, and they have to be out by 7:00 a.m.Official guidance

What does the City bulk program cover?

Furniture, appliances and Type III construction and demolition debris, which the City lists as the three categories for the scheduled bulk collection. Anything hazardous, liquid or otherwise excluded from the residential program belongs on the county route instead, so confirm the specific item when the appointment is booked.Official guidance

Why can a dumpster not take appliances or C and D?

Because the City prohibits them in commercial container service. Dumpster and roll cart customers may not put appliances, construction or demolition debris, tires, hazardous or liquid waste or heavy steel in the container, and overfilled containers or blocked access can draw added fees, so a commercial customer arranges those items separately.Official guidance

What has to be done to an appliance first?

Remove the door so a child cannot be trapped inside and empty the unit completely. The county applies the same rule and also requires all contents out before pickup. Confirm refrigerant handling with the City at 239-213-4700 for a curbside unit, and expect a freon handling charge at the county sites.Official guidance

How does a refrigerator go out?

As part of the scheduled City bulk appointment, on a date booked at least 48 hours ahead, with the door removed and the unit emptied. Ask when you book whether the gas has to be recovered first, because the City publishes no degassing step and the county charges freon handling per item at its own sites.Official guidance

Where do Naples electronics go?

Not in the garbage. The City does not collect electronics curbside and directs them to the county recycling drop-off center at 2640 Corporate Flight Dr. in Naples, where non television electronics and batteries are accepted at no charge for county households during the center's weekday and Saturday hours.Official guidance

How many televisions can one visit bring?

The county takes up to three televisions per residential visit at no charge and charges a published amount for each one above that, while non television electronics are accepted at no charge. Batteries have to be removed from a device and delivered separately, and vehicle and marine batteries are also free to drop off.Official guidance

Can construction debris go out with the bulk pickup?

That depends on the type and the volume. The City names Type III construction and demolition debris as one of the bulk categories, collected only on a scheduled date booked at least 48 hours ahead, while the commercial container rules prohibit construction and demolition debris outright and the county takes only a single cubic yard at its drop-off centers.Official guidance

Where does a larger project load go?

To the Collier County landfill at 3730 White Lake Blvd, open Monday to Saturday with hand unloading until 4:15 p.m., or to the Immokalee transfer station, and both charge construction and demolition debris by weight. The county refuses a mixed load where the material is combined with other waste, so the load is separated first.Official guidance

Which department collects inside the city?

The City of Naples Solid Waste Division, which is part of the Utilities Department and provides backdoor residential garbage collection, curbside single stream recycling, residential horticultural collection and commercial collection. The division can be reached at 239-213-4700 from offices at 2600 Corporate Flight Dr. and 735 8th Street South, and water, sewer and solid waste are billed together.Official guidance

Is my Naples address in the city or the county?

An address can say Naples and still sit in unincorporated Collier County, which runs its own program through the same division name. The City collects twice weekly household waste, weekly recycling and weekly horticultural waste inside the city limits, while the county program covers unincorporated addresses with its own twice weekly household waste, weekly recycling, weekly yard waste and weekly bulky item collection through the county customer service line at 239-252-2380.Official guidance

How far ahead should I plan a large item pickup?

At least 48 hours, because the City schedules bulk collection only on specific dates. Call 239-213-4700 to arrange the date, keep the material off the curb until 24 hours before it, and have everything out by 7:00 a.m. that day so the scheduled crew can take the load in one visit.Official guidance

How do holidays affect pickup?

Pickup runs on every holiday except New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas. When a regular collection day falls on one of those four, the waste is collected the following day instead, and the county drop-off centers close for county holidays as well.Official guidance

When is the county drop-off center open?

The recycling drop-off centers are open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on county holidays, and the hazardous materials drop-off center at 3730 White Lake Blvd is the site for material that needs a special route. The City page lists the Naples center at 2640 Corporate Flight Dr. as Tuesday through Saturday, so confirm the day before a first visit.Official guidance
