Couch & furniture removal in Ocala

City collection Furniture is named on the city's bulk collection list, so a couch or table is booked with the sanitation office a day or two before the weekly bulk day and is collected by the city rather than put out unannounced. No per-item furniture fee is published, and the billable threshold is five cubic yards. The city publishes no per-item furniture charge and treats a set below five cubic yards as part of the weekly collection the household already pays for, so this is not described as free. A set larger than five cubic yards is billed with a published minimum charge and more depending on size, so the sanitation office confirms whether a particular set is billable when the pickup is booked.

Appliance pickup in Ocala

City collection White goods are treated as a priced city service rather than a free bulky item: the rules sheet defines them as any household appliance, water heater or air-conditioning unit, collects them on request, requires the door off a refrigerator with the unit lying on its side, and the fee schedule prices the collection per appliance. $13.5 per appliance for white good collection on the city's sanitation fee schedule for the two year term covering fiscal 2025-26 and fiscal 2026-27, which the older rules sheet prices at an earlier lower figure. Available to a residential customer who books the collection with the sanitation office, which arranges a date. The current fee schedule prints the per-appliance charge used here, and the 2024 rules sheet prints the earlier rate, so the office confirms the amount in force when the pickup is booked.

The local disposal guide

Will the city
take it?

Ocala collects for itself, and the city code says it has to: solid waste inside the city, apart from construction and demolition debris and recyclables, must be handled by the city. Garbage, yard waste, recycling and bulk all run one day each week on the same day between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with automated trucks on the garbage route and carts that belong to the city. Bulky things are the one part that needs a call, because furniture, appliances, mattresses, large landscaping piles and large junk piles are scheduled through the sanitation office a day or two ahead, and a load over five cubic yards becomes billable. Appliances are the exception on price, since white goods carry their own published per-appliance charge and a refrigerator goes out with the door removed and the unit on its side. Construction debris never enters the city system at all, and tires, household chemicals, televisions and computers leave it through two free amnesty programmes a year, with the dates and drop-off corners printed on the city's own schedule.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste carts

Accepted with preparation

Ocala runs its own collection: garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk each run one day a week on the same day between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with automated side loaders doing most of the garbage work. The city owns the carts, assigns them by serial number, repairs or replaces damaged ones, and offers a medical waiver to a resident who cannot take a cart to the street.

City cost & eligibility
$28 for the published curbside garbage and loose yard waste rate on the city's sanitation fee schedule for the two year term covering fiscal 2025-26 and fiscal 2026-27. Charged to a single family residence on the city collection route and billed on the utility bill. The same schedule lists a multifamily residence rate lower than the single family rate, a separate business curbside rate, and an additional disposal fee per cart. A resident who cannot physically take a cart to the street can ask about a medical waiver on 352-351-6697.
When & how
Garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk are each collected one day a week on the same day between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Routes run predominantly Monday through Thursday, with limited Friday service unless a major holiday falls in the week. Carts go out by 7 a.m. on collection day and come back in by 7 a.m. the next day.
Get it ready
Put carts out with the handles facing the house, without overloading and never on the ground, drain liquids such as used cooking oil, and bag and tie the garbage. Leave four feet around each cart clear of poles, mailboxes, hydrants and other carts and keep ten feet from any vehicle. Keep yard waste, dirt, sod, rocks, concrete, construction debris, oil, gas, paint, hot coals or ashes, muriatic acid and pool chemicals out of the garbage cart.

Bulk items and large piles

Accepted with preparation

Bulky material is collected on the weekly bulk day but has to be scheduled first: the city asks residents to call the sanitation office one to two days before the collection day to arrange pickup of furniture, appliances, mattresses, large tree and landscaping debris piles and large junk piles. Charges begin once a load passes five cubic yards.

City cost & eligibility
From $41.25 for the published minimum charge for a billable load over five cubic yards, with bulk collection labour at 8.75 per quarter hour and bulk collection disposal at 35.00 per quarter truckload on the same two year fee schedule covering fiscal 2025-26 and fiscal 2026-27. Charged to the household's utility bill once the load exceeds five cubic yards, with additional charges according to the size of the pile. Below that threshold the pickup is part of the weekly collection the household already pays for, and the city confirms whether a specific set is billable on 352-351-6697.
When & how
Call the sanitation office on 352-351-6697 one to two days before the household's scheduled collection day, then set the material out for that bulk day, which is the same weekday as the garbage day. The city may try to warn a household before collecting a billable load but is not obliged to.
Get it ready
Group the material into one set-out on the bulk day and describe it accurately when booking, because the charge depends on the size of the pile. Keep concrete, asphalt, rock, brick, blocks, tile, shingles and large amounts of wood out of the pile entirely, because construction debris is not a city collection, and keep chemicals and flammable material out as well.
Residential sanitation rules and procedures sheet: cart placement and prohibited material, yard waste sizing and the billable load minimum, the bulk appointment rule, white goods handling, and the rules for construction debris, tires, hazardous and electronic waste, sharps, medications and biomedical wasteSanitation fee schedule for the two year term covering fiscal 2025-26 and fiscal 2026-27: the curbside rate, the bulk labour and disposal units, the white good collection fee, the sharps container fee, the additional cart fee and the commercial ratesResidential sanitation page: the seven-day collection window, the weekly one-day-per-week garbage, yard waste and bulk service, the division address and the contact number

Sofas, tables and furniture

Accepted with preparation

Furniture is named on the city's bulk collection list, so a couch or table is booked with the sanitation office a day or two before the weekly bulk day and is collected by the city rather than put out unannounced. No per-item furniture fee is published, and the billable threshold is five cubic yards.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no per-item furniture charge and treats a set below five cubic yards as part of the weekly collection the household already pays for, so this is not described as free. A set larger than five cubic yards is billed with a published minimum charge and more depending on size, so the sanitation office confirms whether a particular set is billable when the pickup is booked.
When & how
Book the pickup on 352-351-6697 one to two days before the household's scheduled collection day, and have the furniture out on the bulk day, which is the same weekday as the garbage route.
Get it ready
Keep the set together in one pile and take the pieces apart far enough for two people to handle them. Do not add construction material, chemicals or flammable items to the pile, because the city refuses those and they would make the whole set part of a billable load rather than a normal bulky pickup.
Residential sanitation rules and procedures sheet: cart placement and prohibited material, yard waste sizing and the billable load minimum, the bulk appointment rule, white goods handling, and the rules for construction debris, tires, hazardous and electronic waste, sharps, medications and biomedical wasteSanitation fee schedule for the two year term covering fiscal 2025-26 and fiscal 2026-27: the curbside rate, the bulk labour and disposal units, the white good collection fee, the sharps container fee, the additional cart fee and the commercial rates

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

Mattresses are named on the city's bulk collection sentence, so they are booked with the sanitation office and collected on the weekly bulk day like furniture. The city publishes no mattress-specific charge, and the same five cubic yard threshold decides whether a set is billable.

City cost & eligibility
No mattress charge is published, and a set below five cubic yards is part of the weekly collection the household already pays for, so nothing is quoted as free. Once a set passes five cubic yards the load is billed with a published minimum charge and more depending on size, so the sanitation office confirms the cost when the pickup is booked.
When & how
Call 352-351-6697 one to two days before the household's scheduled collection day, and put the mattress out on the bulk day, which is the same weekday as the garbage route.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and lay it flat with the rest of the set, because the city collects the pile with a boom rather than by hand. Do not put a mattress in or on the garbage cart, and do not add treated wood or construction material to the pile because the city refuses construction debris.
Residential sanitation rules and procedures sheet: cart placement and prohibited material, yard waste sizing and the billable load minimum, the bulk appointment rule, white goods handling, and the rules for construction debris, tires, hazardous and electronic waste, sharps, medications and biomedical waste

Large appliances and white goods

Accepted with preparation

White goods are treated as a priced city service rather than a free bulky item: the rules sheet defines them as any household appliance, water heater or air-conditioning unit, collects them on request, requires the door off a refrigerator with the unit lying on its side, and the fee schedule prices the collection per appliance.

City cost & eligibility
$13.5 per appliance for white good collection on the city's sanitation fee schedule for the two year term covering fiscal 2025-26 and fiscal 2026-27, which the older rules sheet prices at an earlier lower figure. Available to a residential customer who books the collection with the sanitation office, which arranges a date. The current fee schedule prints the per-appliance charge used here, and the 2024 rules sheet prints the earlier rate, so the office confirms the amount in force when the pickup is booked.
When & how
Call residential sanitation to schedule a date for the collection rather than putting the appliance out on the ordinary garbage day. Refrigerators and similar units go out with the door removed and lying on their side.
Get it ready
Remove the refrigerator door and lay the unit on its side, and never deliberately damage a unit that holds refrigerant so the gas escapes, because the city states that is illegal. Drain and clean the appliance first, and keep it clear of the cart so the collection crew can reach it safely.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, computers, monitors, cell phones and game systems are named on the city's free hazardous and electronic waste amnesty list, which the city runs twice a year. They are never garbage items, and the city also points residents at the Marion County landfill line for a disposal question between events.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free at the city's hazardous and electronic waste amnesty days, which are open to residents twice a year. The city lists televisions, computers including monitors, keyboards and mice, cell phones, game systems and similar equipment among the items accepted at no charge. Marion County also takes electronics at specific recycling centres, which a resident of an incorporated city needs an annual non-assessed permit to use.
When & how
Bring the equipment to an amnesty day: the 2026 days are Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, September 19, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the southwest corner of NE 14th Street and NE 8th Avenue. Between events the city directs residents to the Marion County landfill on 352-671-8465.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before a computer, phone or game console leaves the house. Keep televisions, computers and batteries out of the garbage cart, because the city lists hazardous and electronic material among the things that must not go in the garbage, and keep older devices separate from the yard waste pile.
Residential sanitation rules and procedures sheet: cart placement and prohibited material, yard waste sizing and the billable load minimum, the bulk appointment rule, white goods handling, and the rules for construction debris, tires, hazardous and electronic waste, sharps, medications and biomedical wasteResidential sanitation holiday and amnesty schedule for 2026: the holiday route effects, the two hazardous and electronic waste days, the two tire amnesty days with their locations, and the two sanitation phone linesMaterials accepted page: the furniture locations and accepted list, the construction and demolition refusal, the electronics drop-off sites, the end of glass recycling and the county address and phone

Construction and demolition debris

Special rules apply

The city does not collect construction debris at all. Concrete, asphalt, rock, brick, blocks, tile, shingles and large amounts of wood have to go into a roll-off container from a private hauler or to a C and D landfill, and the city code excludes construction and demolition debris from the material it must collect.

City cost & eligibility
No city rate exists because this is not a city collection. A roll-off comes from a private hauler at that company's price, and a landfill delivery carries the receiving site's own tipping terms, so the cost is confirmed with the hauler or the site before the material is moved.
When & how
Arrange the container or the landfill trip before work starts, because the city will not take the material on a garbage day and will not collect it as bulk. The Marion County Baseline Landfill at 5601 SE 66th St. is open Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as one receiving option.
Get it ready
Keep concrete, asphalt, rock, brick, blocks, tile, shingles and large amounts of wood out of the garbage cart and out of a bulk pile, because the city refuses all of them. Contractors are responsible for removing the waste they generate, and landscape or lawn maintenance crews may only leave grass and other non-bulky yard waste at the curb with the owner's permission when it came from that property.

Tires

Accepted with preparation

The city sponsors two Household Tire Amnesty Days a year where residents can bring up to ten tires without rims free of charge. The city does not list tires among the items barred from the garbage cart, and the fee schedule prices waste tires that accumulate beyond five cubic yards, so ask the sanitation office where a tire belongs outside the amnesty days.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free for residents at the city's tire amnesty days, up to ten tires per resident with the rims removed. Outside the amnesty days the fee schedule prices waste tires accumulating beyond five cubic yards, with disposal charged on top, so a large accumulation is a priced service rather than a free one.
When & how
The 2026 tire amnesty days are Saturday, March 7 and Saturday, October 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with two drop-off locations: the southwest corner of NE 14th Street and NE 8th Avenue, and 255 NW Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd at the Hampton Aquatic Fun Center.
Get it ready
Remove the rims before the drop-off, because the amnesty is limited to tires without rims, and keep to ten tires per resident. Keep a tire out of the garbage cart and off the bulk pile until the sanitation office confirms where it belongs, and call 352-351-6697 or the 352-351-6698 hotline for the current amnesty dates and locations before making the trip.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is not named on any Ocala list, although the bulk sentence does cover large junk piles, so a treadmill or weight machine is confirmed with the sanitation office before it is set out. The five cubic yard threshold and the same weekly bulk day would apply if the city accepts it as a bulky set.

City cost & eligibility
No exercise equipment price or rule is published, and the nearest named category is the city's large junk pile. Whether the machine is collected as a bulky set, and whether the set passes the five cubic yard threshold that starts billing, is confirmed with the sanitation office on 352-351-6697 before anything goes to the curb.
When & how
Call 352-351-6697 one to two days before the household's collection day, then put the machine out only for the bulk day the office confirms, which is the same weekday as the garbage route.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will go and keep loose weights with the frame so the pile can be handled by the collection crew. Describe the machine and its size when booking, and remove any console, battery pack or screen so that part can go to an electronic waste amnesty day instead of into the yard waste or bulk pile.
Residential sanitation rules and procedures sheet: cart placement and prohibited material, yard waste sizing and the billable load minimum, the bulk appointment rule, white goods handling, and the rules for construction debris, tires, hazardous and electronic waste, sharps, medications and biomedical wasteResidential sanitation holiday and amnesty schedule for 2026: the holiday route effects, the two hazardous and electronic waste days, the two tire amnesty days with their locations, and the two sanitation phone lines

Household hazardous waste, sharps and medicine

Accepted with preparation

Household chemicals are never garbage items in Ocala. The city sponsors two free hazardous and electronic waste amnesty days a year for oil, gas, paint, thinners, fertilizers, insecticides, NiCad batteries, fluorescent bulbs, mercury, chlorine, acids, chemicals and explosives, needles go into a city sharps container, and medicine is directed to law enforcement rather than the drain.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free at the city's hazardous and electronic waste amnesty days, twice a year for residents. A sharps container is delivered for a published fee and the full container is then collected and disposed of at no charge, and a free sharps container is also available from a Marion County recycling site with return disposal there at no charge. Business and biomedical waste are outside these routes.
When & how
The 2026 hazardous and electronic waste days are Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, September 19, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the southwest corner of NE 14th Street and NE 8th Avenue. Sharps containers are arranged through the sanitation office on 352-351-6697, and biomedical waste goes to the Marion County Health Department on 352-629-0137.
Get it ready
Keep oil, gas, paint, thinners, fertilizers, insecticides, NiCad batteries, fluorescent bulbs, mercury-containing items, chlorine, acids and pool chemicals out of the garbage cart, and bring even empty chemical containers to an amnesty day rather than putting them in the trash. Never flush medication, and never put needles in household garbage; ask the sanitation office for a sharps container instead.
Residential sanitation rules and procedures sheet: cart placement and prohibited material, yard waste sizing and the billable load minimum, the bulk appointment rule, white goods handling, and the rules for construction debris, tires, hazardous and electronic waste, sharps, medications and biomedical wasteResidential sanitation holiday and amnesty schedule for 2026: the holiday route effects, the two hazardous and electronic waste days, the two tire amnesty days with their locations, and the two sanitation phone linesSanitation fee schedule for the two year term covering fiscal 2025-26 and fiscal 2026-27: the curbside rate, the bulk labour and disposal units, the white good collection fee, the sharps container fee, the additional cart fee and the commercial rates

Bulk items need a call before the bulk day

Furniture, appliances, mattresses, large tree and landscaping debris piles and large junk piles are collected on the weekly bulk day but have to be scheduled first by calling residential sanitation one to two days before the collection day. A set larger than five cubic yards becomes a billable load, with a published minimum and more depending on the size of the pile, and the city tries to warn a household before collecting a billable load without being obliged to. White goods are arranged separately because they carry their own per-appliance charge.

The city sponsors two hazardous and electronic waste amnesty days and two tire amnesty days each year. In 2026 the hazardous and electronic days are Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, September 19 and the tire days are Saturday, March 7 and Saturday, October 3, all from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with chemicals and electronics at the southwest corner of NE 14th Street and NE 8th Avenue and tires also accepted at 255 NW Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Tires come in without rims and are limited to ten per resident.

Construction debris is a contractor problem, not a city one

Concrete, asphalt, rock, brick, blocks, tile, shingles and large amounts of wood are not collected by the city and have to go into a roll-off container from a private hauler or to a C and D landfill. The city code excludes construction and demolition debris from the waste the city must collect, so it cannot be hidden in a bulky pile or the garbage cart. Private contractors are responsible for removing the waste they generate, and landscape and lawn crews may put only non-bulky grass waste from that property at the curb with the owner's permission.

Needles and medicine take their own routes

Hypodermic needles never go in the household garbage. The city delivers a sharps container for a published fee and then collects and disposes of the full container at no charge, and a free container is also available from a Marion County recycling site with return disposal there at no charge. Unwanted or expired medication should never be flushed down a toilet or drain; residents are directed to local law enforcement or the city website, and biomedical waste goes to the Marion County Health Department.

Book the weekly bulk pickup by phone

An Ocala household with furniture, a mattress, an appliance, a large landscaping or junkyard pile, or another item too large for the cart.

Cost & conditions
From $41.25 for the published minimum charge for a billable load over five cubic yards, with bulk collection labour at 8.75 per quarter hour and bulk collection disposal at 35.00 per quarter truckload on the same fee schedule. A set below five cubic yards is part of the weekly collection the household already pays for, and a set above it is billed to the utility account. The sanitation office confirms whether a particular set is billable when the pickup is booked.
Arrange it
Call residential sanitation on 352-351-6697 one to two days before the household's collection day, describe the material, and have it out on the bulk day, which is the same weekday as the garbage route.

The material has to be a bulky item or pile the city accepts, because construction debris, chemicals and flammable material are never part of a city collection. A white good is arranged separately at its own per-appliance charge, and a pile over five cubic yards carries the published minimum plus additional charges by size.

Schedule a white goods collection

An Ocala household with a refrigerator, freezer, water heater, air conditioner or other white good.

Cost & conditions
$13.5 per appliance for white good collection on the sanitation fee schedule for the two year term covering fiscal 2025-26 and fiscal 2026-27, which the older rules sheet prices at an earlier lower figure. Booked with residential sanitation, which arranges a collection date for a residential customer. The current fee schedule prints the per-appliance charge used here and the 2024 rules sheet prints the earlier rate, so the office confirms the amount in force when the pickup is booked.
Arrange it
Contact the sanitation office on 352-351-6697 to schedule a date, then set the unit out with the door removed and the unit lying on its side.

The fee schedule prices the collection per appliance, so a set of units is charged per piece. Deliberately damaging a unit that holds refrigerant so the gas escapes is illegal, and appliances go through this service rather than the ordinary garbage route.

Use a hazardous, electronic or tire amnesty day

An Ocala household with paint, oil, gas, thinners, fertilizers, insecticides, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, mercury devices, a television, a computer or a small set of tires.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free for residents at the city's amnesty days, with tires limited to ten per resident and the rims removed. Hazardous and electronic waste is accepted whatever the quantity a household brings in, and no business waste is part of the programme.
Arrange it
Bring the material on an announced amnesty day. In 2026 the hazardous and electronic days are Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, September 19 and the tire days are Saturday, March 7 and Saturday, October 3, all from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with chemicals and electronics at the southwest corner of NE 14th Street and NE 8th Avenue and tires also at 255 NW Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

The programmes run twice a year and the city publishes the dates on its residential schedule, so material between events has to wait or go to the county line on 352-671-8465. Empty chemical containers are still brought to the amnesty day rather than the garbage, and medication and needles follow their own routes instead.

Order a city sharps container

An Ocala household that generates hypodermic needles.

Cost & conditions
$5 for for a sharps container delivered by the city, with the full container collected and disposed of at no charge. Available to residents through the sanitation office on 352-351-6697. A free sharps container is also available from a Marion County recycling site and can be returned there for disposal at no charge.
Arrange it
Contact the sanitation office to arrange delivery of the container, use it until it is full, and arrange collection of the full container, which the city disposes of at no charge.

Needles may never be placed in the household garbage, and medication is not part of this programme. Unwanted or expired medication is directed to law enforcement or the city website, and biomedical waste goes to the Marion County Health Department.

Take a load to the Marion County Baseline Landfill

An Ocala household or contractor with material the city does not collect, including furniture for a fee and a load the county recycling centres will not accept.

Cost & conditions
The county landfill and transfer station charge their own tipping fees, which are not published, and furniture delivered there is accepted for a fee. Because the price depends on the load and on whether it is household or commercial material, the current terms are confirmed with Marion County Solid Waste on 352-671-8465 before the trip.
Arrange it
Deliver the load to the Baseline Landfill and Transfer Station at 5601 SE 66th St. in Ocala, open Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed Sunday, and check the county holiday closure list first.

Construction and demolition materials are refused at the county recycling centres, so the right county stream for a mixed load is confirmed rather than assumed, and toilets are refused as well. Glass is no longer accepted at the recycling centres, and furniture from a business or a commercial vehicle is not part of the residential furniture route.

Buy a Marion County non-assessed recycling permit

An Ocala household that wants to use the county recycling centres for furniture or electronics rather than the city route.

Cost & conditions
$215 for for the annual non-assessed recycling permit for a resident of an incorporated municipality, which matches the county's annual solid waste assessment. Required for a resident who lives inside an incorporated city or town to use the county recycling centres, with the permit priced at the county assessment figure for those residents. Residents outside Marion County pay a higher figure, and businesses that do not pay the assessment are not permitted to use the centres at all.
Arrange it
Buy the annual permit from Marion County Solid Waste, then use a participating centre. Furniture is taken at the Canal, Dunnellon, Davis, Martel, Newton and Scrambletown centres during operating hours, and electronics are taken in the green compactor boxes at centres including Baseline, Dunnellon, Forest Corners, Fort McCoy and Martel.

Without the permit an Ocala resident cannot use the county centres, which is why the Baseline Landfill is the default county route for an incorporated-city household. Construction and demolition materials, toilets and furniture from a business or commercial vehicle are refused at the centres, and glass is no longer accepted there.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Ocala collects almost everything itself. Garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk each run one day a week on the same weekday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., carts belong to the city and go out by 7 a.m. with handles toward the house and back in by the next morning, and yard waste comes in biodegradable bags, loose in one pile or in cans no larger than 32 gallons and no heavier than fifty pounds, with plastic bags refused. Bulky material needs a call, because furniture, appliances, mattresses, large landscaping piles and large junk piles are scheduled through residential sanitation one to two days ahead, and a set over five cubic yards becomes a billable load. White goods are the priced part of that service, with a per-appliance collection charge and a refrigerator going out with the door removed and the unit on its side. Construction debris is not a city collection at all, so concrete, asphalt, rock, brick, blocks, tile, shingles and large amounts of wood go into a private roll-off or to a C and D landfill, with contractors responsible for their own waste. Twice a year the city runs free amnesty days for household chemicals, televisions and computers, and twice a year for tires, with the 2026 dates printed on its own schedule, and between those days the county line on 352-671-8465 is the fallback, along with the Marion County Baseline Landfill for a load the city will not take. Marion County Baseline Landfill and Transfer Station, the county site an Ocala household or contractor can use

Marion County Baseline Landfill and Transfer Station

5601 SE 66th St., Ocala, FL 34480

Household waste, recyclables and furniture from residents of incorporated areas within the county, businesses and anyone disposing of more than the recycling centres accept, with furniture taken at the landfill for a fee. Electronics are recycled in the green compactor boxes at the Baseline recycling centre, and the county also directs users here rather than to the recycling centres when they do not pay the solid waste assessment.

Construction and demolition materials are refused at the county recycling centres, so the correct county stream for a mixed load is confirmed before delivery, and toilets are refused as well. Furniture from a business or a commercial vehicle is outside the residential furniture route, electronics are refused from those not paying the solid waste assessment, and glass is no longer accepted at the recycling centres.

Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Sunday, with a published holiday closure list. The Baseline recycling centre keeps its own hours.

The county pages publish that furniture is accepted at the landfill for a fee and that tipping fees apply, but they do not print the rates, so the current charge for a specific load is confirmed with Marion County Solid Waste on 352-671-8465 before the trip.

Tires without rims are also taken here on the two tire amnesty days, up to ten per resident.

The site operates only on the announced amnesty days, twice a year for each programme, and the city sheet publishes the exact dates and hours. There is no published per-item furniture charge, but a set larger than five cubic yards becomes a billable load with a minimum charge and more depending on size.Official guidance

How do I get rid of a mattress in Ocala?

Book it with residential sanitation on 352-351-6697 one to two days before your collection day. Mattresses are named on the city's bulk list and are collected on the weekly bulk day with furniture and other large items. There is no per-mattress charge published, and a set over five cubic yards becomes a billable load with a minimum charge and more depending on size.Official guidance

How do I get rid of an appliance in Ocala?

Book it with residential sanitation, which collects white goods on request for a published per-appliance fee. White goods cover household appliances, water heaters and air-conditioning units, and a refrigerator has to go out with the door removed and the unit lying on its side. The city also states that deliberately damaging a unit holding refrigerant so the gas escapes is illegal. Appliances are also named on the bulk list, so the office confirms which route applies.Official guidance

Where can I recycle a television in Ocala?

At one of the city's free hazardous and electronic waste amnesty days, which run twice a year. In 2026 they are Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, September 19, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the southwest corner of NE 14th Street and NE 8th Avenue. Who collects trash in Ocala?

The City of Ocala does, through its Public Works sanitation division, and the city code requires it: solid waste inside the city, apart from construction and demolition debris and recyclables, must be collected and disposed of exclusively by the city. The division serves more than 17,600 single family homes along with multi-family and commercial customers, garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk each run one day a week on the same day, and carts belong to the city and are assigned by serial number.Official guidance

How do Ocala bulk and appliance pickups work?

Call residential sanitation on 352-351-6697 one to two days before your collection day. Furniture, appliances, mattresses, large tree and landscaping debris piles and large junk piles are all on the bulk list and are collected on the weekly bulk day, which is the same weekday as the garbage route. A set larger than five cubic yards becomes a billable load with a published minimum and more depending on size, and white goods are arranged separately at their own per-appliance charge with refrigerators going out door off and lying on their side.Official guidance

What will Ocala not take at the curb?

Construction and demolition debris is not a city collection at all: concrete, asphalt, rock, brick, blocks, tile, shingles and large amounts of wood have to go into a roll-off container from a private hauler or to a C and D landfill. Household chemicals, televisions, computers and needles never go in the garbage either, and the sanitation office answers the tire question on 352-351-6697. Tires and the hazardous and electronic items leave through the city's free amnesty days, which run twice a year, and needles go into a city sharps container instead.Official guidance

When are the Ocala amnesty days for chemicals, electronics and tires?

The city runs two hazardous and electronic waste days and two tire amnesty days each year, and the 2026 dates are on its residential schedule: hazardous and electronic waste on Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, September 19, and tires on Saturday, March 7 and Saturday, October 3, all from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chemicals and electronics are taken at the southwest corner of NE 14th Street and NE 8th Avenue, and tires are also taken at 255 NW Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Tires come in without rims and are limited to ten per resident.Official guidance

When does Ocala charge for yard waste?

Yard waste is part of the weekly collection until the pile exceeds five cubic yards, which the city treats as a billable load on the utility bill with a published minimum charge and additional charges according to the size of the pile. Yard waste is set out by 7 a.m. in biodegradable bags, loose in one pile or in cans no larger than 32 gallons weighing no more than fifty pounds, and plastic bags are not accepted. Limbs are cut to four foot lengths in their own pile, and debris generated by anyone other than the property owner has to be removed by that person.Official guidance
