Two views of the same room corner: a treadmill on the left, and a small desk and chair in its place on the right.
A new use for the same space, once the old machine is outside and gone.

Room for what comes next

Your space can have a new purpose.

A home office. Room for a guest. A little more floor to enjoy. When an old machine is in the way, a clear pickup plan makes the next step easier.

The room is changing.

Book the equipment you are ready to let go of, whether it is one exercise bike or several machines. See the total before making the plan.

A replacement is coming.

Check whether your retailer includes removal. If the old treadmill is still your responsibility, give it a pickup day of its own.

It is not making the move.

Settle the price online, arrange to have it outside, and follow the pickup through text updates and completion photos. One less thing to coordinate before the keys change hands.

Match the machine

The right choice covers the right equipment.

Choose by the type of equipment. A brand name does not mean a different item, but a walking pad and a full treadmill do.

Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?

Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.

An exercise bike, elliptical or rower

Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.

Weights, racks and benches

Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Ready for pickup

Plan the move outside before pickup day.

A machine can be too heavy or awkward for a solo move. Arrange suitable help for indoor carrying, stairs or any dismantling needed to reach the outdoor pickup spot.

A pickup day is not an exact arrival window. Tell us before booking about a shared loading area, restricted outdoor access or equipment whose size or setup you are unsure how to select.

Your place. One easy pickup plan.

A house, a condo or an apartment. Choose an accessible outdoor spot that works for your property. You arrange the move outside; we take it from there.

  2. Book a day you can be ready.

Choose from the available pickup dates before moving the machine out. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Book by 2pm at the pickup address for same-day pickup.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is not named anywhere in the Hernando County material read here, so the machine has to be confirmed with the hauler before it goes out.

City cost & eligibility
No published amount covers an exercise machine and the County does not name the category, so confirm acceptance with Coastal Waste & Recycling at 352-540-6457 as a bulk item, and ask about the prepaid fee if it falls outside the collection allowance. A metal framed machine could also be presented for the free metal recycling category at a County facility once it is free of gas and oil.
When & how
Call Coastal at 352-540-6457 before setting the machine out, and if it is accepted as bulk, put it out no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled collection.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will come apart and remove any gas, oil or battery components, because the County's metal recycling category requires material free of gas and oil, and because the convenience centers refuse loads that are not containerized or bundled when they are loose.

A bulk pile is only collected after it is scheduled

Bulk items are a special collection booked with Coastal at 352-540-6457, and nothing goes to the curb until 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled collection. Furniture, non-freon appliances and other large household items qualify, while freon and gas appliances, hazardous waste and tires do not, and glass tabletops and mirrors are only taken when they are unbroken.

Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling with Coastal Waste & Recycling

Schedule a curbside bulk collection

A household with furniture, a non-freon appliance or another large household item that will not fit in the garbage cart.

Cost & conditions
The County's bulk FAQ states six bulk collections with up to ten items per collection included each year while the cost FAQ on the same page states four limited bulk items a year, so confirm the current allowance and the prepaid fee for additional items with Coastal Waste & Recycling at 352-540-6457 when booking.
Arrange it
Call Coastal at 352-540-6457, then put the items at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled collection.

Refrigerators, freezers, propane tanks and anything using freon or gas cannot be collected curbside, hazardous waste and tires are excluded, glass tabletops and mirrors are only taken unbroken, and appliance doors should be removed or sealed.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Spring Hill has no city yard of its own, but the West Hernando Convenience Center sits on Osowaw Boulevard inside the community and takes household loads from residents who pay the County solid waste assessment. A visit costs five dollars for up to five bags of household garbage at 60 gallons or less each, fifteen dollars for more than five bags or a bulk load of household items and furniture, and fifteen dollars for yard waste, while recycling and the household hazardous waste accepted at all locations are free when they are brought in original containers, open bins or clear bags. The center refuses tires, construction and land clearing debris, auto parts, pools and spas, outdoor structures and outdoor items, so those loads and anything oversized go to the Main Landfill at 14450 Landfill Rd. in Brooksville, which is open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., takes construction debris, land clearing debris and tires, and weighs every load. From June 1, 2026 the County charges all waste at the landfill by weight and discontinued the free 2,000 pound residential allowance, with Class I waste at 3.1 cents a pound, construction and demolition debris at 3.9 cents, yard waste at 2.8 cents and tires at 7.7 cents a pound for automobile and semi-truck sizes and 10.3 cents for off-road tires. Both facilities require proof of Hernando County residency, neither accepts out-of-county waste, and residents bring their own help to unload. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Exercise equipment removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Spring Hill.

How much does exercise equipment removal cost in Spring Hill?

A household treadmill is $159 as the first item and $85 additional. An elliptical is $159 first and $85 additional; an exercise bike is $119 first and $40 additional. Choose all your items to see the combined price. Loading, transportation and disposal are included, with any applicable sales tax shown before payment.

Can you pick up a treadmill or exercise bike today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the equipment outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; we book a day rather than an exact appointment time.

Will you dismantle my treadmill or carry it out of the basement?

Dropcurb pickup starts outside. Arrange indoor carrying, stairs and any dismantling needed to get your equipment out before pickup. Check the moving instructions for your exact model and arrange suitable help. We load and haul away the equipment from an accessible outdoor spot.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?

Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.

How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?

Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.

Will Spring Hill take a treadmill at the curb?

Exercise equipment is not named in the County's bulk list, so call Coastal at 352-540-6457 to confirm the machine and any prepaid fee before scheduling. If it is refused, a metal framed machine can be presented for the free metal recycling category at a County facility once it is free of gas and oil.Official guidance

What does curbside collection cost in Spring Hill?

In the universal or mandatory area it is 217.37 dollars a year as of January 1, 2026, billed as a non-ad valorem assessment on the tax bill with no setup needed. In the subscription area it is 16.96 dollars a month, or 50.88 dollars a quarter, billed by Coastal Waste & Recycling. The fee covers transport only and not disposal at the landfill.Official guidance

How does curbside recycling work?

Recycling is collected once a week in two sorted bins that come with the service: paper and cardboard in one, and rigid plastic containers, aluminum and tin in the second. Bins go out before 6 a.m. on the service day, and the program does not include glass or plastic bags, so contaminated or mixed loads are not collected.Official guidance

How does yard waste go out?

Once a week in customer-provided containers, never in the garbage cart or recycling bins, with up to 12 containers, bags or tied bundles under 50 pounds and 45 gallons each. Bundles must be under four feet and branches under four inches in diameter, and loose or untied piles are not collected. Landscaper waste and land clearing debris are not eligible at the curb.Official guidance

Where do tires go in Spring Hill?

Not to the convenience centers, which refuse tires, and not in the garbage cart. Tires go to the Main Landfill in Brooksville, which accepts automobile, semi-truck and off-road tires and charges by weight at 7.7 cents a pound, or 154.88 dollars a ton, for automobile and semi-truck tires and 10.3 cents a pound, or 206.50 dollars a ton, for off-road tires.Official guidance

Do I need to prove I live in Hernando County to use a facility?

Yes. Any of the three County facilities requires proof of residency, either a driver's license with a current Hernando County address or an out-of-county license with a TRIM notice, utility bill or deed, and all facilities take Hernando County waste only. Children and pets stay in the vehicle and residents bring their own help to unload.Official guidance

What is the fastest way to clear a whole house?

Schedule a curbside bulk collection with Coastal at 352-540-6457 for the furniture and non-freon appliances, and take the rest to the West Hernando Convenience Center if it is a small household load or the Main Landfill if it is large or loose. Freon appliances, tires, construction debris, outdoor furniture and structures cannot go to the convenience centers, and hazardous material goes free to a County location within the monthly limits.Official guidance
