No Hernando County page read for this packet names a mattress, so the route has to be confirmed rather than assumed from the furniture wording.
The handoff matters
Bulk items are a special collection booked with Coastal at 352-540-6457, and nothing goes to the curb until 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled collection. The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.
Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.
You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

The County's bulk FAQ states six bulk collections with up to ten items per collection included each year, while the cost FAQ on the same page states four limited bulk items per year. Furniture, non-freon appliances and other large household items that do not fit in the garbage cart. Glass tabletops and mirrors are only collected as bulk when they are unbroken, and appliance doors should be removed or sealed for safety.Official guidance
The County's bulk list names furniture, non-freon appliances and other large household items but never names mattresses, so call Coastal at 352-540-6457 to confirm the item before scheduling. A mattress cannot go in the garbage cart.Official guidance
The County's accepted material lists name clothing and bedding and indoor furniture as household waste at the convenience centers, and the Main Landfill takes Class I residential household waste, but neither list names a mattress specifically. Confirm the item with the County at 352-754-4112 before loading, because a rejected load still costs the trip.Official guidance
In the universal or mandatory area it is 217.37 dollars a year as of January 1, 2026, billed as a non-ad valorem assessment on the tax bill with no setup needed. In the subscription area it is 16.96 dollars a month, or 50.88 dollars a quarter, billed by Coastal Waste & Recycling. The fee covers transport only and not disposal at the landfill.Official guidance
Recycling is collected once a week in two sorted bins that come with the service: paper and cardboard in one, and rigid plastic containers, aluminum and tin in the second. Bins go out before 6 a.m. on the service day, and the program does not include glass or plastic bags, so contaminated or mixed loads are not collected.Official guidance
Once a week in customer-provided containers, never in the garbage cart or recycling bins, with up to 12 containers, bags or tied bundles under 50 pounds and 45 gallons each. Bundles must be under four feet and branches under four inches in diameter, and loose or untied piles are not collected. Landscaper waste and land clearing debris are not eligible at the curb.Official guidance
Not to the convenience centers, which refuse tires, and not in the garbage cart. Tires go to the Main Landfill in Brooksville, which accepts automobile, semi-truck and off-road tires and charges by weight at 7.7 cents a pound, or 154.88 dollars a ton, for automobile and semi-truck tires and 10.3 cents a pound, or 206.50 dollars a ton, for off-road tires.Official guidance
Yes. Freon appliances, tires, construction debris, outdoor furniture and structures cannot go to the convenience centers, and hazardous material goes free to a County location within the monthly limits.Official guidance
