Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, computers and other electronics must be requested by phone rather than set out on the weekly route, and Orange County's hazardous waste sites and events also take electronics free, with one published television exception.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the residential collection service when the pickup is requested at 407-656-2256, and free to Orange County residents at the county's community collection events and drop off locations.
When & how
Call 407-656-2256 for the city pickup, usually within a day or two of the request, or use an Orange County hazardous waste site, which accepts electronics along with household chemicals.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep electronics out of the blue lid recycling cart, and note that a rear projection television cannot be recycled at the county sites and goes out as a large item pickup instead.

Appliances and electronics need a phone request

Appliances and electronics are the one part of the service that cannot simply be set out with the weekly large items. The city asks residents to call 407-656-2256 to request the pickup, which is usually made within a day or two of the call and not counting weekends, and the list includes appliances, televisions, computers, vacuum cleaners, water heaters, lawn mowers and grills.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Use the free Orange County hazardous waste locations

A household with paint, batteries, cleaners, pool chemicals, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs, motor oil or electronics.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free to Orange County residents at the county's community collection events and drop off locations, covering paint products, pesticides, propane tanks, cooking oil, fluorescent bulbs, car fluids, rechargeable batteries, cleaning fluids, pool chemicals and electronics.
Arrange it
Use a county drop off location such as the landfill on Young Pine Road, where hazardous waste is accepted Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or a community collection event.

Rear projection televisions cannot be recycled and have to go out as a large item pickup instead, and lithium batteries need their terminals taped and separated from other batteries.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Winter Garden keeps almost everything at the curb. Trash goes out twice a week, and yard waste and large items share one weekly pickup where furniture, mattresses, carpeting and oversized cardboard boxes are taken with no appointment, provided the pile is at the curb by 7 a.m. and clear of the mailbox and trees. Appliances and electronics are the exception, because they are collected only after a request to 407-656-2256, usually within a day or two and never on weekends. Self hauling means driving to Orange County: the landfill on Young Pine Road in Orlando takes general and construction loads on its own fee schedule, and the same site plus the county's community events take household hazardous waste free, including paint, batteries, pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, motor oil and electronics. The one television exception is the rear projection set, which cannot be recycled at the county site and goes out as a large item pickup instead. County landfill and hazardous waste drop off serving Winter Garden

Orange County Landfill

5901 Young Pine Road, Orlando, FL 32829

Municipal solid waste and construction material from self haulers on the county's fee schedule, and household hazardous waste including paint products, pesticides, propane tanks, cooking oil, fluorescent bulbs, car fluids, rechargeable batteries, cleaning fluids, pool chemicals and electronics.

The landfill applies its own material rules and fee schedule, non-account customers are limited to the published daytime hours, and hazardous waste is handled on the county's side of the operation rather than mixed into a general load.

Non-account customers Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with household hazardous waste accepted Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The county publishes locations, hours and fees rather than a single gate price, so confirm the specific load and its charge with the landfill at (407) 836-6601. Hazardous waste drop off and the community collection events are free to county residents.
