Will the city
take it?

Winter Haven splits collection between the City and Polk County. Homes inside city limits have blue and green carts and are served by the City; gray and black carts are county-serviced addresses. Large items are not part of routine collection, so residents schedule a bulk pickup and pay the published rate.

Construction and demolition debris

Special rules apply

Bulk construction and demolition material needs a rented roll-off container. Debris from permitted work or from a hired contractor is the owner's or contractor's responsibility.

City cost & eligibility
The City publishes roll-off container rental as the route for bulk construction and demolition material without a per-item rate. Ask the Solid Waste Division for the current container pricing and terms.
When & how
Email the Solid Waste Division to arrange a roll-off container. Do not set loose construction material out for the routine route.
Get it ready
Bend nails over when they protrude from lumber and keep the material at the curb for the container. If the work needed a city permit or you hired a contractor, that debris stays with the project.
