City cost & eligibility
No rate covers a renovation load. The City collection site takes old lumber, carpet, metal and cardboard free from city residents but refuses roof shingles and commercial dumping, and the Cherokee County Recycling Center refuses building materials, home remodeling materials and construction waste. Confirm the material and the destination with City Public Works on 770-720-7674 before hauling.
When & how
During collection site hours for the material the site accepts, and through a permitted hauler or another receiving facility for the material both the City site and the county center refuse.
Get it ready
Separate the load, because lumber, carpet, metal, cardboard and household items can go to the free City collection site while shingles, commercial loads and construction waste cannot. Keep any load to what fits in the bed of a pickup truck or SUV if it is going to the county recycling center, which refuses anything larger, and keep chemicals and oils out of both routes.
The Cherokee County Recycling Center at 470 Blalock Road accepts appliances, batteries, mattresses, paint, flat screen televisions and monitors, bagged household trash, polystyrene and all electronics except tube televisions and CRT monitors, with published per item charges and payment by card or check only. Its Hobgood Park location takes single stream recyclables and glass only, and both sites refuse motor oil, antifreeze, tires, light bulbs, unbagged trash and construction waste.

No charge. City of Canton residents only, since the collection site offers free trash disposal to households inside the city limits. Commercial dumping, paints, chemicals and oils, brush and leaves, roof shingles, tires, dump trucks, dump trailers and box trucks are refused.
Arrange it
Drive the load to 2525 Ridge Road, Canton, during site hours: Monday from 7 a.m. to noon for senior day, closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a lunch closure from 12 to 1 p.m., and closed Sunday.
The site is free but not open to commercial loads, and it refuses paint, chemicals, oils, brush, roof shingles and tires, so a load with those items needs another destination.

From $20 for the published per item charges at the Blalock Road location, where mattresses and box springs, flat screen televisions, air conditioners and riding mowers sit at the higher end and small appliances, monitors, paint cans and smaller items sit lower. Cherokee County residents dropping pay items at Blalock Road, where payment is by card or check only because cash is not accepted. Recyclables such as cans, plastic bottles, paper, flattened cardboard, glass and paperboard are free for county residents, and an out of county fee applies to others.
Arrange it
Separate the pay items from the free recyclables, flatten every cardboard box before arrival because loose material is not unloaded, drive to 470 Blalock Road, and expect one visit per day per customer.
Pay items are accepted only at Blalock Road, and the center refuses tube and projection televisions, CRT monitors, light bulbs, motor oil, antifreeze, tires, wood or plastic furniture, building and construction waste, plastic film and any load larger than a pickup truck bed.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?+
Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.
Where does remodeling debris go?+
It depends on the material. Old lumber, carpet, metal and cardboard go free to the City collection site at 2525 Ridge Road for city residents, while roof shingles are refused there and building, remodeling and construction waste are refused at the Cherokee County Recycling Center.
