When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.
A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Furniture, appliances and similar large items are collected as a requested bulk pickup, two items per week, instead of riding with the ordinary cart.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the annual residential sanitation service the household already pays through the city property tax bill, with two bulk items allowed each week at no separate collection charge. Extra carts and any service the hauler bills directly are separate.
When & how
Request the pickup through the city service request link within 24 hours of the trash service day and no later than 3 p.m., or call the hauler at 770-279-3703 with advance notice, whose page describes one bulk item per week.
Get it ready
Keep the items at the curb together and clear of vehicles, mailboxes and utility poles, and set them out on the collection day rather than leaving them at the curb for days. Nothing on the refused list goes out with the bulk request, including tires, batteries, propane tanks, glass doors and mirrors, swing sets, pool tables, safes, trampolines, pianos and construction and demolition debris.
Furniture, sofas, chairs and tables are named on the city accepted bulk list, so a couch goes out with a requested bulk pickup rather than the weekly cart.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the annual residential sanitation service, within the two item weekly bulk allowance the city publishes, with no separate charge for a standard request.
When & how
Request the pickup within 24 hours of the trash service day and no later than 3 p.m., then set the furniture at the curb for the scheduled collection.
Get it ready
Keep upholstery dry, leave the piece whole unless it comes apart easily, and place it clear of vehicles, mailboxes and utility poles. Furniture cannot go in the garbage cart, and anything a contractor removed from the property stays the contractor's to dispose of.
Mattresses are named on the city accepted bulk list, with the condition that the mattress is wrapped in plastic before it is collected.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the annual residential sanitation service, within the weekly bulk allowance the city publishes, provided the mattress is wrapped in plastic as the city requires.
When & how
Request the bulk pickup within 24 hours of the trash service day and no later than 3 p.m., then put the wrapped mattress out for the scheduled collection.
Get it ready
Wrap the mattress in plastic so the crew can lift it without debris falling out, keep it dry until collection, and set it out with the rest of the bulk load rather than on its own so one visit covers everything.
Appliances are on the city accepted bulk list, but the city attaches a condition: the unit has to be tagged to show that refrigerants have been removed.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the annual residential sanitation service, within the weekly bulk allowance, subject to the published condition that an appliance carrying refrigerant arrives tagged to show the refrigerant has been removed.
When & how
Request the bulk pickup within 24 hours of the trash service day and no later than 3 p.m., then set the appliance out on the scheduled collection day after the tagging condition is met.
Get it ready
Empty the unit, remove a door that could trap a child, and arrange the refrigerant recovery and the tag the city requires before the appliance goes to the curb. Ask the hauler at 770-279-3703 who performs the recovery locally if that step is not already done, because the city page does not name a contractor.
Electronics are not on the city accepted bulk list and the county keeps them out of the curbside recycling cart, so they travel to the county drop-off event instead.
City cost & eligibility
The curbside program does not take electronics. The county collects them at its America Recycles Day drop-off at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds with a cash fee per item, and the county recycling directory lists other year-round drop-off locations that have to confirm acceptance before a resident hauls an item there.
When & how
Take electronics to the county drop-off event on its posted day, or check the county recycling directory before a trip to a year-round location.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage cart and the recycling cart, remove and set aside any battery the household can take out safely, and bring the device in a container the household does not need back.
Construction and demolition waste is refused on the city bulk list, and the county directs that material to an authorized construction and demolition waste hauler.
City cost & eligibility
Neither the city bulk request nor the weekly cart takes construction and demolition debris. The city tells residents those items can be taken to their nearest landfill, and Gwinnett County directs the material to a hauler authorized for construction and demolition waste, so the route and its price are confirmed with the company or the receiving site.
When & how
Arrange the haul with an authorized construction and demolition waste hauler, or confirm the receiving site's hours and load rules before a self haul trip.
Get it ready
Separate clean material from household trash, keep asbestos containing waste out of any routine load, and leave debris generated by a contractor with the contractor. The city refused list covers boarding, decking, sheetrock, carpet, lumber, roofing and construction materials, and the same list applies to the bulk request.
Exercise machines are not named on the city accepted bulk list, so the item is confirmed with the hauler before it goes to the curb.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no rate for exercise equipment because the item is not on the accepted list, so confirm the machine, the pickup day and any charge with the hauler at 770-279-3703 or through the city service request link before it goes out.
When & how
Confirm the item first, then request the bulk pickup within 24 hours of the trash service day and no later than 3 p.m.
Get it ready
Break the machine down as far as it comes apart, take off loose weights and the console, and keep the frame clear of vehicles, mailboxes and utility poles. An unconfirmed machine left at the curb is not a scheduled bulk item and can be left behind.
The weekly truck empties carts, so a couch, appliance, mattress or pile of junk needs a bulk request submitted within 24 hours of the trash service day and no later than 3 p.m. The city allows two items a week, and the hauler page describes the same service as one item a week with advance notice by phone, so confirm the count when the request goes in.
Leaves, grass and small trimmings go out in brown paper yard waste bags on the regular collection day, up to ten bags a week, with another ten bags a month available free from the hauler. Limbs, brush and small trees go into a separate pile for the city chipper, which runs by request in the third week of each month with logs under 8 inches in diameter and 24 inches long stacked with the cut ends facing the same direction.
Tires, batteries, propane tanks, windows, glass doors and mirrors, swing sets, pool tables, safes, trampolines, pianos and construction and demolition waste are all on the city refused list for bulk pickup. The county adds aerosol cans that are not empty, ammunition, biomedical waste, chemicals, compressed gas cylinders, firearms, large engine parts, large glass panes, paint solvents, stumps and treated wood to the list of material its haulers will not take.
Gwinnett County holds an America Recycles Day drop-off on Saturday, November 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville. It takes paper for shredding, electronics with a cash fee per item, tires without rims up to a limit of eight, oil-based and latex paint within a per-vehicle limit, clothing and sneakers. The city also runs an annual Great American Cleanup Day in April for recyclables and bulk trash.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Before you book
A few things worth knowing.
Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lilburn.
Is there an extra charge for a bulk item pickup?+
No separate collection charge is published for the weekly bulk allowance, which is included in the annual residential sanitation service the household already pays through the property tax bill. A second garbage or recycling cart is billed directly by the hauler, and any service beyond the published allowance is arranged with the hauler.Official guidance
Can you pick up bags of junk today?+
Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.
Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+
No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.
Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?+
Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?+
Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.
How do I schedule a bulk pickup in Lilburn?+
Use the city service request link on the garbage and recycling page within 24 hours of the trash service day, and submit it no later than 3 p.m. to be scheduled. The hauler page describes the same service with advance notice by phone at 770-279-3703.Official guidance
How many bulk items can go out each week?+
The city and county pages allow two items per week at no additional charge. The city Recycle Right page words the same service as one bulk item per week per customer with advance notice, so confirm the count when you submit the request.Official guidance
Will the hauler take a couch or sofa?+
Yes. Furniture, sofas, chairs and tables are named on the city accepted bulk item list, and mattresses are also named there with the wrapping requirement. The item goes out on a requested bulk pickup, not with the weekly cart collection.Official guidance
How should furniture be set out?+
Place it at the curb on the scheduled day, clear of vehicles, mailboxes and utility poles, and keep it away from the yard waste bags and the carts. The request itself has to be in before 3 p.m. the day before the trash service day to be scheduled for that week.Official guidance
How should a mattress be prepared for pickup?+
The city asks for the mattress to be wrapped in plastic, which keeps it dry and lets the crew handle it cleanly. Place it at the curb with the other bulk items on the scheduled day so a single visit covers the load.Official guidance
Does a mattress go out with the weekly trash?+
No. A mattress is a bulk item and goes out only after a request submitted within 24 hours of the trash service day and no later than 3 p.m. It cannot ride in or beside the garbage cart.Official guidance
What does the appliance refrigerant tag mean?+
The city accepted bulk list says appliances have to be tagged that refrigerants have been removed before collection. That is a condition on the item itself, so the recovery is arranged before the appliance goes to the curb, and the tag goes on the unit.Official guidance
How are appliances collected in Lilburn?+
As a requested bulk item rather than with the weekly cart. Submit the request within 24 hours of the trash service day and no later than 3 p.m., and meet the refrigerant tag condition first.Official guidance
Where do televisions and electronics go in Lilburn?+
They do not go in either curbside cart. Gwinnett County collects televisions, monitors, printers and similar items at its America Recycles Day drop-off at the county fairgrounds, with a cash fee per item, and the county recycling directory is the county partner index for other drop-off locations.Official guidance
How much does the county electronics drop-off cost?+
The county publishes cash fees per item at the November event: a printer costs the least, a monitor or television more, and a projection television the most. Amounts are collected in cash on the day, and the same event takes paper for shredding, clothing and sneakers.Official guidance
Will the city take construction debris?+
No. Construction and demolition waste is on the city refused list for bulk pickup, together with boarding, decking, sheetrock, carpet, lumber and roofing. Those loads are removed by a hauler authorized for construction and demolition material.Official guidance
Where can construction material be taken instead?+
The city tells residents that material Waste Management will not pick up can be taken to their nearest landfill, and Gwinnett County directs construction and demolition debris to an authorized hauler for that material. Confirm the destination and its hours before loading a truck or trailer.Official guidance
Will the hauler take exercise equipment?+
Exercise equipment is not on the accepted bulk list, which names furniture, appliances, sofas, car seats, play equipment, chairs, tables and wrapped mattresses. Play equipment is named but a treadmill, elliptical or home gym is not, so the piece is confirmed before it is set out.Official guidance
How should a treadmill or elliptical be prepared?+
Take off loose weights and the console and break the frame down if the pieces come apart, then confirm with the hauler whether the machine will be collected and on which day. Keep the parts together in one pile at the curb if it is approved.Official guidance
Who collects the trash in Lilburn?+
The City of Lilburn contracts with Waste Management for residential garbage and recycling, and the service is billed annually on the city property tax bill. A county address outside the city limits is served instead by the Gwinnett County program, where five haulers cover assigned service areas and the annual charge is set by the county.Official guidance
