Boards placed in the cart must be cut so the lid closes. Bundles may not exceed 5 feet in length, 50 pounds or one cubic yard, with roughly six bundles to the cubic yard, and doors count as one bundle. Latex paint is dried out with an absorbent and put in the garbage cart, while oil-based paint, solvents and chemicals go to the appointment-only household hazardous waste collection at Public Works.

Carts sit on the driveway apron at the curb line or on the parkway with the handle facing away from the street, a two foot gap from the next cart, mailbox and sign post, and the lid closed.
