Tires

Not on the regular city route

Tires are refused outright by the Pekin collection and the City publishes no tire drop-off, sticker or collection route.

City cost & eligibility
The City states that tires will not be accepted at all and lists no tire collection, no tire sticker and no drop-off, so the household has to find its own receiver and can call the Solid Waste Department on 309-477-2325 to ask what is currently accepted.
When & how
Keep tires off the curb on the collection day and out of any pile left in the alley or on the street, and arrange the disposal with a private receiver instead.
Get it ready
Do not put tires in the cart, next to the cart or in the yard waste, because the City refuses them outright and the same code prohibits refuse left in a public way.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Pekin publishes no self-haul facility of its own. The City garbage page mentions only that Christmas trees are the one tree allowed in the landfill, without naming a landfill, an address or hours, and the retained bodies carry no transfer station or public drop-off site for household waste. A household that wants to haul its own load therefore has to ask the Solid Waste Department on 309-477-2325 where material can be taken, and the cart has to be used for household garbage because the City is the sole provider and the code prohibits refuse left in an alley, gutter, street or other public way. The published drop-off route that does exist is for electronics, at the local places the City lists under Public Act 95-0959, and the City sells its own 96-gallon garbage cart and 64-gallon recycling cart rather than accepting a household-hauled load. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Tire disposal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Pekin.

How much does tire disposal cost?

A non-commercial car or pickup-truck tire is $99 first and $20 additional. A commercial automotive tire up to 120 lb is $125 first and $55 additional. Count each tire separately.

How do I book a set of four tires?

Choose the matching tire type and set the quantity to four. The first tire uses the first-item price and the remaining three use the additional-item price. Review your total before payment.

Do you take tires still mounted on rims?

Text our team a photo before booking so we can confirm the scope and price for your setup.

Can my tire shop take the old tires?

Ask the tire retailer or your local waste authority about their collection options and requirements. If the tires are already at home, Dropcurb offers a separately booked outdoor pickup for the listed tire types.

Can I arrange same-day pickup?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Checkout shows the available dates for your address. Your booking is for a pickup day, rather than an exact arrival window. We send updates and photos after collection.

Where should I put my items?

Use an accessible outdoor spot you are allowed to use, and follow the instructions in your confirmation. Keep sidewalks, entrances and vehicle access clear. You arrange any indoor carrying. For a loading dock or a short building access window, confirm the setup with our team before booking.

Will the City take tires?

No. The City states plainly that tires will not be accepted at all, and it publishes no tire collection, tire sticker or drop-off site. A household arranges disposal with its own receiver and can call the Solid Waste Department on 309-477-2325 to ask what the collection will accept.Official guidance
