City cost & eligibility
The weekly bulk item carries no separate charge, but the city does not name mattresses specifically. Confirm that Republic Services will take the mattress as the one bulk item with a weekly collection by calling (219) 662-8600, or use a dump site load instead.
When & how
Either set the mattress out with the weekly collection after confirming it counts as the bulk item, or take it to a dump site on a day when the resident has one of the three monthly loads available.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and clear of the cart, and confirm any wrapping or bagging requirement with the hauler, because the city publishes none.
