City cost & eligibility
No charge. One bulky item per household with each weekly collection at residential properties served by the Village's contracted hauling. The Village publishes no separate bulky item fee; the collection is part of the contracted residential service.
When & how
Put the item out with your carts by 6:00 a.m. on your regular collection day. Holiday weeks shift every pickup in the remainder of the week one day later.
Get it ready
Set the item beside the carts and about three feet away from them so the truck arm has room for the containers. Carpet counts as a bulky item: cut and roll it into 4-foot lengths, secure each roll with tape or string, keep every roll under 50 pounds, and send no more than 8 rolls in a week.
Refuse, recycling and yard waste all go to the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. on the collection day. Carts sit with the handle facing away from the roadway and about three feet from other containers or objects, and they come back in no later than the evening of the collection day.
A bulky item goes out with the weekly pickup, so place it next to the carts rather than on top of them and leave the truck arm clear. Carpet counts as a bulky item and must be cut into 4-foot rolls under 50 pounds, with no more than 8 rolls in a week.
New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day push collection one day later for the rest of that week, so check the schedule before setting anything out.

Orland Park runs no public drop-off site of its own, and the Village sends residents to Waste Management for the weekly collection. The closest public drop-off belongs to the Orland Township Highway Department at 16125 S. Wolf Road, where electronics, household appliances without refrigerant, scrap metal, paper and cardboard are accepted Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Village page also notes that no household hazardous waste event is scheduled at the moment. Anything the Township does not take, including furniture and mattresses, refrigerant appliances and construction debris, has to move through the weekly collection, a scheduled WM service or a rented container, so call ahead before loading a trailer.
