  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.

Mattresses and box springs

Special rules apply

Mattresses are not named on any city page, so the item has to be confirmed with Groot against the bulk item definition.

City cost & eligibility
Naperville publishes no mattress entry and no mattress price. Its bulk route covers items that do not fit a container and can be lifted by one driver without assistance, two items a week at no additional cost, so call Groot on (630) 892-9294 and confirm whether the mattress counts as one of those items before it goes out.
When & how
Confirm the item with Groot before the collection day, then put the mattress at the curb by 6 a.m. if it is accepted as a bulk item.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and out of the carts, and keep it away from the construction pile and the recycling cart, which takes only the listed recyclable materials.
City residential collection page with the Groot contract and monthly refuse fee, the collection hours and holiday rule, the container limits, the statement that furniture and appliances are in the normal collection, the weekly construction material limits, the free weekly appliance collection and the two free bulk items a week with the landfill-banned exceptions

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Furniture, appliances and bulk items are all part of the service

Furniture and appliances are included in the normal collection. Groot collects one appliance a week at no additional charge, naming freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks and dehumidifiers, and it collects two bulk items a week at no additional cost, covering barrels, crates, furniture and similar items that do not fit a proper container and can be lifted by one driver without assistance. Appliances are excluded from the bulk route, and so are the items banned from direct landfill disposal such as tires, car batteries, televisions and electronic waste. Reporting the items to Groot on (630) 892-9294 before the collection day is part of all three routes.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Naperville contracts residential collection to Groot Industries, with the published fee on the city utility bill and service starting automatically once the electricity and water accounts are set up. Trash goes out by 6 a.m. and containers come in by 7 p.m., containers are limited to 32 gallons and 60 pounds unless a city cart is used, and collections shift a day later for the rest of the week when they fall on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas. Furniture and appliances are part of the normal collection: Groot collects one appliance a week at no additional charge, naming freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks and dehumidifiers, and two bulk items a week at no additional cost, covering barrels, crates, furniture and similar items one driver can lift. Limited quantities of remodelling material go out weekly inside published carpet, container, bundle, weight and length limits. Reporting items to Groot on (630) 892-9294 before the collection day is required for all three routes, and appliances, tires, car batteries, televisions and electronic waste are excluded from the bulk route because they cannot go straight into a landfill. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Naperville.

How much does mattress removal cost in Naperville?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Naperville?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

Will Groot take a Naperville mattress?

Confirm it first. Naperville publishes two free bulk items a week for barrels, crates, furniture and similar items that do not fit a container and can be lifted by one driver, but it does not name mattresses, and no mattress price is published. Call Groot on (630) 892-9294 and confirm whether the mattress counts as a bulk item before setting it out.Official guidance

How many bulk items and appliances can go out each week?

Two bulk items a week at no additional cost, covering barrels, crates, furniture and similar items that do not fit a container and can be lifted by one driver without assistance, plus one appliance a week at no additional charge, naming freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks and dehumidifiers. Appliances are excluded from the bulk allowance, both have to be reported to Groot on (630) 892-9294 before the collection day, and the items go to the curb by 6 a.m.Official guidance
