When & how
Every week on the regular trash day, collected by a secondary truck behind the usual route. Nothing has to be scheduled, so the item only has to be at the curb and accessible.
Get it ready
Place furniture, tree limbs and appliances at the curb and separate the tree limbs, brush and leaves from the other large items, because a separate truck collects the organic material for composting and mulching. Keep the pile clear of mailboxes, poles, fences and overhead power lines, and remember that bags and boxes on the ground are not collected on their own.
Trash rides the regular truck, bulk items such as furniture and appliances ride a secondary truck on the same day, and tree limbs, brush and leaves ride a separate organic truck so the material can be composted and mulched instead of landfilled. Separating the piles is what lets each collection finish in one pass.
Every district customer may haul and dump up to 2,000 pounds of household trash at East Central Recycling each year at no extra charge, along with six car tires, hazardous household waste and electronic goods. The same site accepts construction materials with a charge, and the district publishes the recycling number for questions about charges or programs.
