Choose the right items

One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, monitors, computers, keyboards and printers are collected curbside by appointment, and all household electronics are also taken at the DPW Yard, where only 2 televisions per household per year are allowed.

City cost & eligibility
No electronics fee is published, so confirm the appointment and any charge with the city. The disposal guide gives (617) 376-7556 for a call by 3 p.m. at least 2 full business days before the regular trash day for a screen, and the recycling page routes scheduling to Capitol Waste Services at (855) 533-3400.
When & how
Book the curbside collection and put the device out on the regular trash day, or take it to the DPW Yard at 55 Sea Street during its published hours. The yard takes only 2 televisions per household per year.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers, drives and phones before they leave the house, and keep devices out of the single stream recycling container. Needles and sharps never go in a device or a cart: the recycling page routes them to the Clean Harbors Sharps Management programme on (855) 633-9783, and household hazardous material waits for one of the city's two hazard days.

What the DPW Yard takes, and what it refuses

The DPW Yard behind 55 Sea Street is for Quincy residents only and opens Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM within the 2026 season window that ends December 5, 2026. It accepts yard waste, single stream recycling, textiles, electronics, scrap metal, appliances, books, CDs, DVDs and mercury items, but it is not a landfill and refuses household trash, wood, tires, oil and gasoline, latex and oil paint, chemicals and construction debris. A valid Massachusetts driver's licence is required, and commercial plates are barred without prior written approval from the Commissioner's Office.

Hazardous material waits for a city drop-off day

The city holds a household hazardous waste drop-off day twice a year at the DPW Yard, and the next scheduled date is still to be announced. The event is for Quincy residents only with a Massachusetts driver's licence showing a Quincy address, material stays in its original container with caps tightened, and chemicals are never mixed. Accepted material includes oil-based paint, fuels, poisons, pool chemicals, solvents, mercury items and Ni-Cad and lithium batteries, which are also taken year round at the yard. Tires, latex paint, asbestos, ammunition, prescription medicines and syringes are refused.

Book an appliance, television or computer pickup

A household with a stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer, dehumidifier, water heater, television, monitor, computer or printer to leave on the regular trash day.

Cost & conditions
No fee is published and the city pages give different booking numbers and lead times, so confirm the appointment and any charge on (617) 376-7556 or with Capitol Waste Services on (855) 533-3400.
Arrange it
Call ahead, then put the item out with the regular trash on the day the booking covers. The disposal guide asks for a call by 3 p.m. one full business day before for most appliances and 2 full business days for a refrigerator or a screen.

Refrigerators and dishwashers are not accepted at the DPW Yard, and the yard takes only 2 televisions per household per year, so a second screen has to go through the curbside booking.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Quincy means the DPW Yard at 55 Sea Street, which is for Quincy residents only. It opens Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM inside the published 2026 season window from April 4, 2026 through December 5, 2026, and it takes yard waste, single stream recycling, textiles, electronics, all scrap metal, appliances other than refrigerators and dishwashers, books, CDs, DVDs and mercury items such as thermometers, thermostats, rechargeable batteries and fluorescent bulbs. A valid Massachusetts driver's licence is required, commercial plates need prior written approval from the Commissioner's Office, and the yard refuses household trash, wood, tires, oil and gasoline, latex and oil paint, chemicals and construction debris. Construction and demolition debris therefore has to go to a private hauler or to one of the two stations the city names, Champion City Recovery at 138 Wilder St. in Brockton on (508) 941-6700 or Stoughton Recycling Technologies at 100 Page Blvd. in Stoughton on (781) 341-9920, both with a call for pricing and scheduling. Hazardous material that the yard will not take waits for one of the city's two yearly household hazardous waste drop-off days at the yard, which are for Quincy residents only, with oil based paint, fuels, pool chemicals, solvents and mercury items accepted and tires, latex paint, asbestos and prescription medicines refused; the same items can also be discussed with Clean Harbors on (781) 380-7100. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Electronics removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Quincy.

How much does electronics pickup cost in Quincy?

A computer monitor is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Choose the actual devices and quantities to see your combined price online. A separate desktop tower and monitor are separate items. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; review the total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can you pick up old electronics today in Quincy?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout and have the prepared items outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done. The booking is for a day, not an exact arrival time.

Does computer removal include my monitor and printer?

Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. Add a separate monitor, printer or laptop as its own item if it is going too. For small devices, cables and chargers together, choose Box of electronics and check the description before booking.

Do you erase data from old computers?

Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away. Completion photos confirm the pickup, not data destruction.Official guidance

Can I book one box of old cables and small electronics?

Yes. Box of electronics is an existing option for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. A monitor, desktop computer and printer each have their own item option. Send a photo before booking for a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries so we can confirm the fit.

Where do televisions and electronics go in Quincy?

Both routes are published. Call (617) 376-7556 by 3 p.m. at least 2 full business days before your regular trash day and put a television, monitor, computer, keyboard or printer out on that day, or take it to the DPW Yard at 55 Sea Street, where all home, entertainment and business electronics are accepted but only 2 televisions per household per year are taken. Wipe personal data before handover.Official guidance

Who runs waste collection in Quincy?

The city's Department of Public Works runs it through the Waste and Recycling Division, and Capitol Waste Services collects weekly curbside trash and recycling for one- to eight-family dwellings and condominiums, Monday through Friday. The division office is at 55 Sea Street on (617) 376-1957, and missed collections are reported to Capitol Waste Services at (855) 533-3400. Buildings with more than eight units are outside the city programme.Official guidance

What can go out as a bulky item in Quincy?

Two bulky items a week, with sofas, chairs, recliners and lawn furniture named by the city, and furniture is collected without calling ahead.
