Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and remodeling debris

Accepted with preparation

Project material goes to the Recovery Yard, the non-profit construction and demolition recycler, or to the Drop-Off Station in small quantities.

City cost & eligibility
From $8 for the published construction and demolition price at the Drop-Off Station, which starts with a minimum quarter yard charge and rises per cubic yard or per bag, while the Recovery Yard charges forty dollars a yard for heavy construction debris with separate rates for clean concrete and clean wood and roll-off containers available for larger projects. Residents, contractors and commercial haulers at either Recycle Ann Arbor site. The Recovery Yard also publishes a large vehicle gate fee and a fuel fee by location for containers, and the Drop-Off Station adds its gate fee to any construction quantity.
When & how
Drop off at the Recovery Yard on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., or at the Drop-Off Station during its posted hours, and rent a roll-off container for a larger project.
Get it ready
Separate clean concrete and clean wood from mixed debris so they can be recycled, because concrete has to be unpainted and free of trash, tile and brick, and clean wood has to be untreated with no paint, stain, particle board or plywood. Asbestos containing material and asphalt are refused at both sites, and brick, blocks and concrete are no longer accepted at the Drop-Off Station.

The city pass that waives the Drop-Off Station gate fee

Ann Arbor residents can apply online at the city stream portal for a pass that waives the three dollar gate entry fee at the Drop-Off Station, with proof of residency required and commercial users excluded. The pass covers the entry fee only, so the per item disposal charges for large items and hard-to-recycle materials still apply, and the site takes credit card only.

Apply for the city Drop-Off Station pass

An Ann Arbor resident who regularly brings large items or hard-to-recycle material to the Drop-Off Station.

Cost & conditions

Arrange it
Apply online through the city stream portal, search for the recycle or drop off application, create an account, and use the pass emailed after approval on each visit.

Roll-off container for a project load

A household or contractor with more construction and demolition debris than a drop-off trip can carry.

Cost & conditions
The container is rented by the week and the price depends on the size, the material and a fuel fee based on location, so call the Recovery Yard at 734.426.2280 for the current rate before booking.
Arrange it
Call the Recovery Yard, choose one of the ten, twenty, thirty or forty cubic yard containers, and confirm the delivery window and the location before the container is dropped.

Asbestos containing material and asphalt are refused, tires and freon appliances found in a container are billed at the standard drop-off rate, electronics are prohibited in a roll-off container and draw a fine if they are found in one, and an overfilled container is not serviced and carries a wasted trip charge.

An Ann Arbor household that hauls its own material uses three gates. Recycle Ann Arbor runs the Drop-Off Station at 2950 East Ellsworth Road, open Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Friday and Saturday, where the per day gate fee covers traditional recycling and every large item, appliance, mattress, television, tire or piece of furniture is priced separately at the gatehouse, with credit card the only payment and the city pass waiving the gate fee for residents. The Recovery Yard at 7891 Jackson Road takes construction and demolition loads on weekdays, sorts concrete, clean wood and metal, charges by the yard and rents roll-off containers by the week. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Ann Arbor.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Ann Arbor?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Ann Arbor?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where does construction debris go in Ann Arbor?

To the Recycle Ann Arbor Recovery Yard at 7891 Jackson Road, which sorts heavy construction debris and charges by the yard, or in small quantities to the Drop-Off Station. Both refuse asbestos containing material and asphalt, and the Drop-Off Station no longer takes brick, blocks or concrete.Official guidance

Can I rent a container for a remodeling project?

Yes. The Recovery Yard rents ten, twenty, thirty and forty cubic yard roll-off containers by the week for construction and demolition debris, wood, metal, cardboard, concrete and single-stream recyclables, with tires and freon appliances found in a container billed at the standard drop-off rate and a fuel fee based on location, while electronics are prohibited in a roll-off container and draw a fine if they are found in one.Official guidance

How do the drop-off sites take payment?

Both Recycle Ann Arbor sites are credit card only, with no cash or checks, and the gatehouse assesses each load and takes payment before the material is unloaded. Bring help because the drop-off areas are self service.Official guidance
