Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Get it ready
Keep every container and its contents under 60 pounds, use the provided cart, refuse bags or watertight containers with tight lids and lifting handles no larger than 35 gallons, break cardboard down to no more than three feet by two feet, and leave three feet between each cart. Refuse that cannot be handled individually needs another route.
Exercise machines are not named in the City's item list, so whether a treadmill, bike or weight machine rides the bulk collection depends on its size and weight.

No separate charge is published for bulky household items in Novi, because the refuse fee billed on the summer and winter tax bills already covers bulk item collection, but the City's guidelines do not name exercise machines. When & how

Get it ready
Break the machine down the way the City expects a pool table to be handled, into pieces inside the published weight and size limits, and keep the parts together. Remove and set aside any battery, because Novi routes batteries to household hazardous waste rather than the curb.
Trash, recycling and bulky items must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day, and carts should be back in by that evening. When an observed holiday falls on or before your collection day, service is one day behind for the rest of that week.
City ordinance keeps bins off the curb until 24 hours before the collection day, and receptacles have to be removed within 12 hours after collection. Keep containers where they do not create a nuisance for neighbors.
Bulk items ride the regular collection day instead of a booked appointment. The City asks for a courtesy call to Priority Waste at 586-228-1200 so the driver can be prepared, and missed collections are reported to Priority Waste as well.
Refuse goes out in the provided cart, refuse bags or watertight containers with tight fitting lids and lifting handles, no larger than 35 gallons, and no single container and its contents over 60 pounds. Items that will not fit a container are handled individually when they meet the same limits.
Paint, chemicals, liquids, motor oil, car batteries, propane tanks and other hazardous material never go in a cart, in a refuse bag or at a recycling drop-off site. Take them to a RRRASOC household hazardous waste event, or to the hazardous waste drop-off in Livonia on a weekday.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.
