The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics are not in the curbside bulk program and are not accepted at the city recycling drop-off. Pontiac's route for them is the Oakland County NoHaz collection events, which take CRT and flat screen televisions and computers along with paint and household chemicals.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Pontiac is a NoHaz member community listed at no charge, so residents pay nothing per vehicle. Non-member communities and addresses outside Oakland County pay $135 per vehicle per event, and registration is required before an event.
When & how
NoHaz runs collection events on selected Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 2026 events are finished, and the county says to check back in February 2027 for the next season, which usually opens in April or May.
Get it ready
Register at NoHaz.Eventbrite.com about three weeks before an event, separate electronics from paints and chemicals in the vehicle so the crews can unload them in order, and keep people and pets out of the way. Wood-encased console televisions are not accepted.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

A Pontiac household with a television, computer, monitor or printer, plus paint, batteries, motor oil and other household chemicals that cannot go in the cart.
Cost & conditions
No charge. Pontiac is listed as a free NoHaz member community, so residents pay no per vehicle fee. Registration is still required before each event, and non-member or out-of-county vehicles pay $135 per event.
Arrange it
Watch for the county's event schedule, register at NoHaz.Eventbrite.com about three weeks ahead, then drive to the event site between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the event Saturday with electronics separated from paint and chemicals.
No appliances except microwaves, no refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners or dehumidifiers because they contain Freon, no construction and demolition waste, no tires, no wood, no general recyclables and no business or contractor material. The 2026 events are finished and the next season is announced in February.
Pontiac's own drop-off windows both sit inside the city. The spring landfill days at the Transfer Station on 575 Collier Road run 7 a.m. to noon on selected Saturdays for residents with proof of residency, taking furniture, carpet, wood and demolition items, appliances without Freon and tires at $3 each inside a 3 cubic yard limit, with no trailers or commercial vehicles. Household recyclables go to the City Hall auxiliary parking lot, where the gates are open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the accepted list is paper, cardboard, plastics marked #1 or #2, glass bottles and jars and metal cans. Does my old TV have to work?+
Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
Where does a Pontiac television or computer go?+
To a NoHaz collection event, where electronics are unloaded last and CRT and flat screen televisions, computers, printers, scanners and similar devices are accepted.
