Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Building, remodeling and project debris

Special rules apply

Homeowner generated building material is on the city's item table with preparation rules for wood, plywood, shingles and drywall. Concrete and bricks go to the Long Monday drop off at the Department of Public Works, and contractor generated material is refused at the curb.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Homeowner generated material prepared the way the guide describes rides with the regular curbside collection that the quarterly residential rate already covers. The hauler lists contractor generated materials, fencing and concrete as unacceptable at the curb, and those loads go to the drop off program instead.
When & how
Prepared material goes out on your regular service day. Concrete and bricks wait for the Long Monday drop off, held the second Monday of the month from April through October, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Shingles and drywall are not set out on rainy days.
Get it ready
Bundle wood and molding no longer than four feet and no more than 18 inches around, tied with heavy twine or rope, under 60 pounds, with nails removed or hammered down. Stack plywood neatly in sections no larger than four feet by four feet with no nails, and containerize shingles and drywall under 60 pounds per bundle.

Out after 6 p.m. the night before and before 7 a.m. on pickup day

Trash, recycling, yard waste and bulky items go to the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before your service day and no later than 7 a.m. on the day itself. The hauler states plainly that all material has to be at the curb by 7 a.m.

In the right of way between the sidewalk and the street

Place bins and bulky items at the curb in the right of way between the sidewalk and the street, with containers separated from each other. Containers do not belong in the driveway, on the sidewalk or in the street, and the city asks that nothing extends over a sidewalk or the roadway.

32 gallon containers, 60 pound containers, 40 pound bags

City issued carts are voluntary. If you use your own container for garbage or yard waste, the maximum is 32 gallons and 60 pounds, and bags should not weigh more than 40 pounds. Trash in a recycling cart is not serviced, and the carts are not interchangeable.

Six holidays push collection back a day

New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are observed. When one falls on or before your service day, pickup runs one day later than normal, and a holiday on a weekend causes no delay.

City of St. Clair Shores Public Works Department with Express Waste Services

Weekly curbside collection with Express Waste

A household setting out mattresses, couches, appliances, exercise equipment or prepared homeowner building material with the regular collection on its service day.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Curbside service is inside the residential quarterly rate every household already pays, and the hauler answers that large item pickups carry no separate charge. The rate amount is not published on the pages read for this guide, so confirm your quarterly bill with the hauler at 248-927-1391.
Arrange it
Put everything at the curb by 7 a.m. on your service day and nothing out before 6 p.m. the evening before. Large household items are picked up neatly at the curb with the regular collection, and mattresses need plastic wrapped around them.

Tires, concrete, fencing, contractor generated materials, liquid paints and chemicals, car parts, freon appliances, fluorescent bulbs, batteries and propane tanks are refused at the curb. Clean-outs past one room's worth need a dumpster, and containers are limited to 32 gallons and 60 pounds with bags under 40 pounds.

City of St. Clair Shores Public Works Department with Express Waste Services

Long Monday drop off at the Department of Public Works

A household with non-hazardous debris the curbside collection will not take, such as clean concrete and bricks, or metal fence posts with the concrete broken off.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes no fee for the Long Monday drop off and instead asks residents to call the Department of Public Works at 586-445-5363, so confirm the current terms before you load.
Arrange it
Bring the load to the Department of Public Works at 19700 Pleasant Street on the second Monday of the month from April through October, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Expect one pickup-truck sized load per address per month, and have proof of residency available.

No paint and no household hazardous waste is accepted, and the program runs April through October only. Items the hauler already collects at the curb are not the route here, and the city limits the drop off to one pickup-size load per household each month.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in St. Clair Shores runs through the Department of Public Works at 19700 Pleasant Street. The Long Monday drop off takes non-hazardous debris the curbside collection will not, including clean concrete and bricks, and metal fence posts with the concrete broken off, on the second Monday of each month from April through October, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., limited to one pickup-truck sized load per address per month with proof of residency possibly requested. Paint and household hazardous waste are not accepted there. Hazardous waste and electronics wait for the city's collection days on May 16 and September 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the same address, while Macomb County runs appointment-only hazardous waste events for county residents at a Mt. Clemens site and does not take computers or other electronics. For year round electronics recycling, a public drop off south of the city takes items on weekday business hours and charges per item for televisions and monitors. Motor oil and cooking oil can be left at the DPW complex at any time on the cart under the sign in front of the building. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in St. Clair Shores.

How much does construction debris removal cost in St. Clair Shores?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in St. Clair Shores?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can I put remodeling debris out with the trash?

Homeowner generated wood and molding, plywood, and shingles and drywall are listed as regular curbside collection when they follow the city's preparation rules, including bundles under 60 pounds and plywood stacked in four foot sections. Contractor generated materials, fencing and concrete are not accepted at the curb.Official guidance

Where do concrete and bricks go in St. Clair Shores?

The city's item table sends brick and concrete to the Long Monday drop off at the Department of Public Works on Pleasant Street, along with metal fence posts that have the concrete broken off. The program runs the second Monday of each month from April through October, and household hazardous waste is not accepted there.Official guidance

Does the Long Monday drop off charge a fee?

No fee is published for the Long Monday drop off, which is why the city directs residents to the Department of Public Works with questions. Call 586-445-5363 before you load, expect a limit of one pickup-truck sized load per address per month, and have proof of residency ready in case it is requested.Official guidance

What time do items need to be at the curb in St. Clair Shores?

Waste, recycling and bulky items go out no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before your service day and no later than 7 a.m. on the day itself. The hauler states that everything must be at the curb by 7 a.m., so an item set out later risks waiting another week.Official guidance

Where do paint, gasoline and other household chemicals go?

Oil based paint and chemicals such as gasoline, herbicides, paint thinner and pesticides go to a household hazardous waste collection day, and the Macomb County program takes appointments for its Mt. Clemens events with the hotline at 586-469-5236. Latex paint is dried with cat litter or sand and set out with the lids off, and the city's own hazardous waste days at the DPW run on May 16 and September 19, 2026.Official guidance
