Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Mattresses and box springs go out with the regular curbside collection, and the city requires plastic wrapped around a mattress before pickup. The same route carries large household items in reasonable quantities, so a mattress is not a separate appointment.
Couches, tables, chairs and other household furniture are on the city's curbside item table. Weekly bulk and special pickup runs in reasonable quantities, and furniture beyond one room's worth is handled as a clean-out.
Washers, dryers, water heaters, stoves, furnaces, microwaves, garbage disposals, trash compactors, heat pumps and water softeners are collected at the curb. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners appear on the same list, and the city guide says freon is pulled by licensed technicians.
Televisions, computers and other electronics stay out of the trash cart and out of the recycling cart. Two routes are published for the city: the two hazardous waste and e-waste days at the Department of Public Works, or a public electronics drop off that charges per item.
Homeowner generated building material is on the city's item table with preparation rules for wood, plywood, shingles and drywall. Concrete and bricks go to the Long Monday drop off at the Department of Public Works, and contractor generated material is refused at the curb.
A treadmill, exercise bike or weight machine counts as a large household item, so it goes out with the regular curbside collection in the same way as furniture. A garage or room sized clean-out is past the weekly allowance.
Weekly bulk and special pickup takes large household items in reasonable quantities with no separate charge. House clean-outs, or debris and furniture past one room's worth, are expected to use a dumpster, and the city sets container and bag limits.

Trash, recycling, yard waste and bulky items go to the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before your service day and no later than 7 a.m. on the day itself. The hauler states plainly that all material has to be at the curb by 7 a.m.
