Warren takes furniture with the weekly refuse collection. The city's own guideline tells residents to set items that are too large for a container, naming furniture among them, neatly next to the rubbish containers, so a couch leaves on the same day as the trash rather than on a separate paid bulky route. Furniture is also on the accept list at the Recycling Center if you would rather haul it.

When & how
Set the piece beside your rubbish containers on your normal collection day, out by 6 a.m. or no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before. Holidays during the week push the rest of that week one day later.
Get it ready
Keep the piece whole and out at the curb rather than in the back yard, keep it clear of the cart so the truck can reach both, and cut, roll and tie carpet or padding in four foot lengths if that is part of the load.
Refuse and compost go to the grass at the curb by 6 a.m. or no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before the scheduled collection, and until then the carts and bags stay at the side of the house or in the rear yard. The carts have to be three feet apart with the lids closed and nothing protruding from the top, and a compost pile is placed five feet from the rest of the garbage. When a holiday falls in the week, collection runs a day late for the rest of that week.
Furniture and mattresses are set neatly beside the rubbish containers rather than inside them, and a mattress with bed bugs has to be wrapped and contained in plastic first. Carpets and padding are cut, rolled and tied securely in four foot lengths. A refrigerator or freezer is emptied and its doors removed, with the freon left in place. An air conditioner or dehumidifier is different: the freon has to be removed by a licensed refrigerant recovery or heating and cooling company and a sticker proving the work has to be attached to the appliance before the crew can collect it.
The yard is for bona fide Warren residents only, with proof of residency such as a driver's licence, and it expects a personal vehicle: commercial type vehicles and panel vans are turned away and contractors are not eligible to use the facility for any material. Yard personnel judge every questionable load, so what is accepted can vary from visit to visit, and there is no assistance to unload, because it is the resident's responsibility to place material into the proper containers.
