Dem-Con Blaine charges a lower price for small furniture such as a bed frame, chair, dresser or single couch and a higher price for bulky furniture such as a sectional, hide-a-bed, piano or pool table, and a furniture load whose per-item total passes the published threshold moves to the household ton rate. Call Certified Recycling at 952-894-1448 and ask about the Coon Rapids promotion, or drive to Dem-Con Blaine, 3280 99th Ct. NE, Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bridging's nearest donation drop-off is in Roseville, and ReStore Twin Cities also accepts donations; both list their own hours.
Get it ready
Metal bed frames and metal shelving are accepted in the Recycling Center's scrap metal bins once the non-metal parts, wheels and handles are removed. For donation the item should be clean, in working condition and free of rips, tears and odors, and each partner publishes a list of what it cannot take. Keep the item dry, because a wet furniture item carries an added charge on both paid routes.
Arrange a large-item pickup with the hauler you already use
Coon Rapids uses open hauling, so you choose one of five licensed haulers: Ace Solid Waste, Curbside Waste, Republic Services, Walter's Recycling or Waste Management. Every hauler provides trash and recycling, and the city assigns each neighborhood a collection day so trucks come down the street once a week. Ask your hauler about a large-item pickup and its price, and keep that arrangement separate from your regular cart collection.

Donations must be clean and in good working condition, with no rips, tears or odors, and both partners publish lists of items they refuse. Furniture that cannot be donated goes to Dem-Con in Blaine, because the city Recycling Center refuses wood, glass and upholstered furniture.
Most household bulky items have a local self-haul route. Mattresses, appliances, televisions, computers and small electronics, tires and scrap metal go to the Coon Rapids Recycling Center at 1827 111th Avenue NW. Furniture, construction material and exercise machines have no city route and go to the Dem-Con Blaine transfer station at 3280 99th Ct. NE.
