Empty and defrost the unit, remove the doors if the receiving site asks, and keep ammonia appliances out of the load because the Recycling Center refuses them. The appliance containers sit near the exit on the north side of the yard, and the payment form is inside the container and goes to the cashier building. Separate clean material from mixed debris, because the rate is set by the ton and by what the load contains and the minimum charge applies even to a small load. Clean concrete with no wood or metal embedded can go to North Pine Aggregate in Forest Lake instead. Keep paint thinner, solvents, gasoline and other hazardous products out of the load and take them to the Anoka County facility in Blaine.

Arrange a large-item pickup with the hauler you already use
Coon Rapids uses open hauling, so you choose one of five licensed haulers: Ace Solid Waste, Curbside Waste, Republic Services, Walter's Recycling or Waste Management. Every hauler provides trash and recycling, and the city assigns each neighborhood a collection day so trucks come down the street once a week. Ask your hauler about a large-item pickup and its price, and keep that arrangement separate from your regular cart collection.
Place carts behind the curb on the driveway or the boulevard, about two feet behind the curb with at least three feet between carts, so plows and sweepers can clear the street. Carts may go out at 4 p.m. the day before collection and must be at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on collection day, then stored back out of public view by midnight. Trash is collected at least weekly and recycling at least every other week, between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Products marked caution, warning, danger or poison do not belong in the trash or in a bulky load. Paint thinner, solvents, gasoline, aerosol cans with contents, pesticides, mercury and similar items go to the Anoka County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 3230 101st Avenue NE in Blaine, which is free for residents of Anoka and several neighboring metro counties and does not accept appliances, electronics or tires. The Recycling Center takes empty propane tanks, batteries, used motor oil, oil filters and antifreeze instead.

Do my items need to be outside when I book?+
You can book while your items are still inside. Arrange any indoor carrying and have everything outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We load and haul it away from there. Contact us before booking if your property has restricted access.
