Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Coon Rapids publishes no single citywide bulky collection. You arrange a large-item pickup with the licensed hauler you already use, call the city's discounted curbside pickup for a mattress, furniture item or appliance, or self-haul to Dem-Con in Blaine, while clean scrap metal such as metal furniture, grills, bikes and mowers is accepted at the city Recycling Center.
The handoff matters
Coon Rapids uses open hauling, so you choose one of five licensed haulers: Ace Solid Waste, Curbside Waste, Republic Services, Walter's Recycling or Waste Management. Every hauler provides trash and recycling, and the city assigns each neighborhood a collection day so trucks come down the street once a week. Ask your hauler about a large-item pickup and its price, and keep that arrangement separate from your regular cart collection.

Trash is collected at least weekly and recycling at least every other week, between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The Recycling Center takes empty propane tanks, batteries, used motor oil, oil filters and antifreeze instead.
