City cost & eligibility
No charge. Mecklenburg County residents with a free blue entry sticker and proof of residence, arriving in a non-commercial vehicle with one large bulky item such as a sofa, a chair, a table or a mattress set. A load with more than one bulky item moves to the per unit rate for bulky waste, and a weighed load is charged by the ton with a load minimum. Out of county residents need a purchased annual sticker and pay at that category, and payment is by card only, with no cash and no checks.

North Mecklenburg Disposal and Recycling Center, 12300 N. Statesville Road, Huntersville, Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The county's other three full-service centers keep the same hours, and all are closed on the listed county holidays.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress and box spring dry and separate from any bed frame, which counts as its own bulky item. Bring the load separated from yard waste and from construction and demolition debris, because a mixed load is refused or charged at the construction rate. Ask the fee attendant how the set will be counted if you are also bringing other bulky items.
Mecklenburg County residents display a free blue entry sticker at the full-service centers and show proof of residence such as a driver's license. Without a sticker the load is charged at the out of county category, and a non-county resident can buy an annual sticker. Drive to 12300 N. Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078, open Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Because of construction congestion, business and non-residential loads and dump trailers are not allowed there on Saturdays. The site is currently only selling bagged mulch and compost.
Loads must arrive separated by material, and a mixed load is not accepted or is charged at the construction rate. Delivery is capped at fourteen cubic yards, mattresses and box springs are limited to one each, computer equipment is limited to two items, tires are limited to five, and residential households are limited to two televisions per visit per month. The town states that residents may contract with a private hauler for bulk items, and each company sets its own price for the load, so the cost is quoted by the hauler you choose rather than published by the town.

What can go out with yard waste?+
Yard waste is collected weekly on the same day as garbage, in bags of 50 pounds or less, with up to 20 bags of leaves a week. Limbs must be no larger than five inches in diameter and no longer than four feet and stacked in piles no bigger than four by four by four feet with two feet between piles.
