The local disposal guide
Cornelius collects household waste through Waste Pro: garbage once a week, recycling every other week on a red and blue calendar, and yard waste weekly. The town states plainly that it does not provide bulk item pickup, so a couch, mattress, appliance, television or renovation load goes to a Mecklenburg County full-service disposal and recycling center, and the nearest is the North Mecklenburg center at 12300 N. Statesville Road in Huntersville, open Monday through Saturday. Residents can also hire a private hauler to collect bulky items from the property.
