Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.
You do not need a whole house of junk. Select the bags, boxes and larger items you actually have. Your combined price is shown online.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

There is no town bulky collection, so large items go to a Mecklenburg County full-service center, where one large bulky item such as a sofa, a chair, a table or a mattress set is free and a bigger load is charged by the unit or by weight. Scrap metal is accepted there too, and a private hauler is the alternative.
The handoff matters
Mecklenburg County residents display a free blue entry sticker at the full-service centers and show proof of residence such as a driver's license. Without a sticker the load is charged at the out of county category, and a non-county resident can buy an annual sticker. Payment is by debit card or a major credit card except American Express, and the centers take no cash and no checks.

Do not park a cart next to the mailbox, and keep trash bagged so it does not scatter. Recycling carts go out every other week on the red and blue schedule.

Ammunition, explosives, pharmaceuticals and smoke detectors are not accepted, and the county says smoke detectors belong in the regular trash.

Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.

Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Yard waste is collected weekly on the same day as garbage, in bags of 50 pounds or less, with up to 20 bags of leaves a week. Limbs must be no larger than five inches in diameter and no longer than four feet and stacked in piles no bigger than four by four by four feet with two feet between piles.
