A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

One large household item through the Town

Accepted with preparation

The Town collects one larger household item that will not fit in the cart, and several small items, after the resident calls the Town first.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Holly Springs households that call 3-1-1 or 919-577-3111 before the item goes out, where one item under 50 pounds and under two and a half cubic yards, or several small items, is collected at no additional charge. A larger load or an appliance carries a fee paid in advance and based on the size of the load.
When & how
By arrangement with the Town after the call, rather than on the regular garbage day.
Get it ready
Call before the item is placed out and put it at the edge of the front yard just behind the curb and off the street pavement. Grills, printers, exercise equipment, large children's toys and chairs are named as the kind of item this route covers, while sofa beds, mattresses, box springs and construction material are excluded and need a private removal service or a county load.

Call the Town before a large item goes out

The household item route starts with a call to 3-1-1 or 919-577-3111, before anything is placed out. One item under 50 pounds and under two and a half cubic yards, or several small items, is collected at no additional charge, and a larger load is quoted and paid in advance. Items go just behind the curb at the edge of the front yard.

What the cart and the curbside collection refuse

Yard waste, dirt, construction material and household hazardous waste never go in the garbage cart. Sofa beds, mattresses, box springs and construction material are excluded from the curbside household item collection as well, so each of those needs a county load or a private hauler rather than a spot beside the carts.

Town of Holly Springs Public Works with GFL Environmental and Wake County Solid Waste Management

Town curbside collection

A Holly Springs household with an active water account, since garbage and recycling service is opened with the water account and billed on the same monthly statement.

Cost & conditions
Garbage, recycling and yard waste charges appear on the monthly utility bill rather than on a separate hauler invoice, and the collection page does not publish the amount, so confirm the current rate with the Finance Department or on the utility billing page.
Arrange it
Open the service when the water account is started, look up the collection day for the address, and set the carts out at least five feet from the mailbox or post on the scheduled day.

The route covers household garbage and recyclables only, with yard waste on its own schedule and no mattresses, box springs, sofa beds, construction material or hazardous waste.

Town household item pickup

A household with a couch, chair, grill, printer, exercise machine, large toy or a few small items that will not fit in the garbage cart.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Holly Springs households that call the Town first, where one item under 50 pounds and under two and a half cubic yards, or several small items, is collected at no additional charge and a larger load or an appliance is quoted and paid in advance.
Arrange it
Call 3-1-1 or 919-577-3111, describe the item, then place it behind the curb at the edge of the front yard on the collection day the Town sets.

Sofa beds, mattresses, box springs and construction material cannot be collected on this route, and the free allowance is one item rather than a load.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Holly Springs runs its curbside program through one contractor and then hands the awkward items to the county. Garbage goes out weekly and recycling every other week on the same day, the charges ride the monthly utility bill, and anything larger than the cart is a call to the Town first, because the Town collects one item within its published weight and volume limits at no additional charge and quotes a fee above them. Four loads do not fit that route. A mattress or box spring cannot be collected at the curb and goes to a Wake County convenience center inside a two piece per visit limit. An appliance is either a curbside white goods pickup paid for in advance or a free drop-off at the Southern Wake Landfill Convenience Center. A corded electronic device goes to the county sites the guide names rather than to the Apex center nearest town, while household batteries can go in the two town bins with the terminals taped. Construction material is refused in the cart, refused in the curbside item pickup and refused at the town yard waste center, so it goes to a county site as homeowner debris without concrete or pavers, or to a private hauler. The South Wake Landfill between Holly Springs and Apex takes residential loads on a limited basis with payment by cash, check or card, and the household hazardous waste drop-off on the same road takes the chemical load that nothing else will. Wake County residents only, with construction loads limited to homeowner waste and no concrete or pavers, mattresses and box springs capped at two pieces per visit at the five sites the guide names, and corded electronic devices accepted only at the two sites and the weekend East Wake schedule the guide lists. Box trucks, enclosed trailers and dual axle trailer users need a county Trash Pass.

The county guide lists what these centers accept without publishing a fee for the items this packet covers, so confirm any charge when the load arrives.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Furniture removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Holly Springs.

How much does furniture removal cost in Holly Springs?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I get same-day furniture pickup in Holly Springs?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.

How do I get a large household item picked up?

Call the Town on 3-1-1 or 919-577-3111 before the item goes out, then place it behind the curb at the edge of the front yard. One item under 50 pounds and under two and a half cubic yards, or several small items, is collected at no additional charge, and a larger load is quoted and paid in advance.Official guidance

Who collects the garbage in Holly Springs?

The Town provides residential curbside garbage and recycling through its waste contractor, GFL Environmental, and a household opens the account when it requests water service at Town Hall. Public Works answers collection questions on 311, or 919-577-3111 from outside Town limits.Official guidance

How do I find my collection day?

The Town publishes a schedule lookup for garbage, recycling and yard waste, and collection can happen at any point on the scheduled day because the trucks run until 7 p.m. Recycling follows the same day as garbage, but only every other week.Official guidance

What can I take to the yard waste center?

The town convenience center at 361 Bumgardner Drive takes any amount of yard waste at no additional cost from residents who show proof of residence, and it is open every day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring the material loose rather than bagged, and keep dirt, root balls, mulch, rocks, concrete, construction debris, pallets and lumber out, because the center refuses them.Official guidance

Can I take a load to the South Wake Landfill myself?

Yes, on a limited basis. The landfill prefers licensed haulers with credit accounts, but residents may bring waste and pay by cash, check or credit card up to the published card limit, and every load must originate inside Wake County. The same site holds a convenience center and the household hazardous waste facility.Official guidance

What do I do with moving boxes?

Break the boxes down and stack them beside the curb before the collection day, and put the packing material in the garbage cart. A large box load can also go to a Wake County convenience center, or the hauler can be asked for a bulk box pickup for a fee.Official guidance
