Remodeling, construction and demolition debris

Special rules apply

The town does not collect construction or demolition debris, carpet, flooring, fencing or lumber at the curb, and the residential Dial-A-Dumpster refuses construction and contractor debris. The route is the Iredell County Transfer Station on Macleod Drive, which takes construction and demolition material by weight and refuses concrete, asphalt, brick, block, dirt, shingles, gravel and rocks.

City cost & eligibility
$66 per ton of construction and demolition material at the Mooresville Transfer Station, which the county fee schedule lists at 66 dollars per ton with the North Carolina tip tax added at the scale. Iredell County residents with a windshield decal or proof of residency. Loads with construction or demolition debris have to be unloaded by 6 pm, no construction debris from commercial sources is accepted at that site, and concrete, asphalt, brick, block, dirt, shingles, gravel and rocks are refused there and directed to the Twin Oaks facility.
When & how
The Mooresville Transfer Station opens Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 6:30 pm and Sunday from 2 to 6:30 pm, with construction debris loads required before 6 pm and commercial loads cut off at 2:45 pm on weekdays. Larger loads and unacceptable material go to the Twin Oaks facility in Statesville, open weekdays from 7:30 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 8 am to noon.
Get it ready
Separate the load by material, because the county refuses or re-charges unseparated waste and keeps concrete, asphalt, brick and block out of the Macleod Drive site. Stack and denail lumber, keep the load covered and secured to avoid the civil penalty for an unsecured load, and remember that a contractor working at the address has to haul away its own debris.

The county gates need a decal or proof of residency

The Iredell County sites are funded by county taxpayers and cannot accept material from non-residents, so a household needs the annual windshield decal mailed with the August property tax statement, or proof of residency such as a driver's license with a current vehicle registration, utility bill or loan closing papers. The county can refuse service after January 31 without a current decal and fines non-residents who try to dispose of material.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Mooresville starts at the town gate and then goes to the county. Most of a clean-out never has to leave the curb, because the bulky truck on the weekly route takes furniture, mattresses, empty appliances, extra bags, move-out piles and patio furniture at no extra charge, and the town will place a free residential dumpster in the driveway for a larger job if the request is made in advance and the date falls outside November 1 to January 1. What the town refuses goes to Iredell County. The Mooresville Transfer Station at 158 Macleod Drive takes electronics, tires, white goods, brush and construction and demolition material Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 6:30 pm and Sunday from 2 to 6:30 pm, with a decal or proof of residency, an afternoon cut-off for commercial loads and a 6 pm cut-off for construction debris. Construction and demolition waste is charged by the ton there, CRT televisions and monitors by the unit, white goods and source-separated recyclables free, and household material free only for residents who have paid the county availability fee. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Mooresville.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Mooresville?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Mooresville?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where does construction debris go in Mooresville?

To the Iredell County Transfer Station at 158 Macleod Drive, which takes construction and demolition material by weight, with loads unloaded before 6 pm and no commercial construction debris accepted there. Concrete, asphalt, brick, block, dirt, shingles, gravel and rocks are refused and directed to the Twin Oaks facility. The town does not collect this material at the curb and the residential dumpster will not take it.Official guidance

Who handles trash and bulky item pickup in Mooresville?

The Town of Mooresville Sanitation Department, which is based at 2523 Charlotte Highway and can be reached on 704-663-7282. The town provides one roll-out garbage container per household paid through property taxes, collects garbage weekly and recycling every other week, and runs a second truck on every route for bulky items and excess bagged garbage.Official guidance

How do I get an extra garbage or recycling container in Mooresville?

Ask the town. A household gets one roll-out garbage container paid through property taxes, and additional garbage containers are available at an extra cost through the billing office on 704-663-3800. On the recycling side a household gets one cart after registering and may request a second at no charge, and a damaged cart is replaced when it cannot be dumped or rolled or when the body, handle, lid or wheels are broken.Official guidance

Can I get a dumpster for a big garage or yard clean-out?

Yes, within limits. Mooresville residents can call the sanitation department in advance for a residential Dial-A-Dumpster at no cost when the amount of material is more than the weekly route can carry. The container stays up to seven days, sits in the driveway, holds yard waste or household waste but never both, and is unavailable from November 1 to January 1. Construction debris, contractor debris, electronics, glass, paint, painted wood, pallets, shingles and vinyl siding are not allowed in it.Official guidance
