City cost & eligibility
From $10 per household item that still contains CFCs, such as a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner, at EcoDrop Utica. Household white goods such as a washing machine, dryer or stove are accepted at no charge and the first bulky item each week is collected curbside as part of the city service at no separate charge, so the per-item fee applies to a refrigerated unit brought to the drop-off.

Set one appliance out between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night before your collection day, or take it to EcoDrop Utica, open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Get it ready
Empty and clean a refrigerator or freezer before it moves, and keep the unit upright so it can be handled safely. The city does not collect 55-gallon drums, propane tanks or oil tanks at the curb, so those go to the drop-off instead.
