One bulky item per week per building comes off the curb with the blue bag garbage at no separate charge, and a mattress set that is larger than one item has to be spread across weeks. At the drop-off the published resident rate applies, with a $10 penalty added to an untarped load.

Get it ready
Keep the mattress whole and dry and put it out with the blue bag garbage rather than inside a bag, because the blue bag is the container for household rubbish. Only one bulky item is collected per building each week, and a room-size rug or carpet has to be rolled, tied and no longer than 6 feet.

Garbage and recyclables are collected once a week, and the city makes set-out legal only between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night before the collection day. Putting items out at any other time is against local law and can draw a violation notice, and containers come back off the curb after collection.
