The local disposal guide
Utica collects its own residential garbage, and household rubbish has to be in City of Utica blue bags bought at stores around the city, capped at ten bags a week for a single-family home and twenty for a two-family building or business. Garbage and recycling run once a week, and setting anything out is legal only between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night before the collection day. On top of the bagged rubbish the city takes one bulky item a week per building, two car tires a week and a handful of green waste containers, and everything else goes to the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, whose EcoDrop Utica facility on Sewage Plant Road publishes a resident fee for bulky items, Freon appliances, tires, garbage by weight and construction debris.
