The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

New York State bans electronics from the garbage, and Utica answers that two ways: the device can be the weekly bulky item at the curb, or it can go to EcoDrop Utica free of charge.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. The Authority accepts electronics year-round at no charge at EcoDrop Utica and EcoDrop Rome, and the city also allows electronic waste to be the single bulky item collected at the curb each week, so there is no published charge on either route.
When & how
Set the device out between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night before your collection day as your weekly bulky item, or drop it at EcoDrop Utica during its weekday and Saturday hours.
Get it ready
Never put a television, monitor or computer in the blue bag or the orange recycling container, because the state bans the material from the waste stream and the city brochure says electronics that are set out come off the curb as the bulk item instead. Erase anything that stores personal data before it leaves the house.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Cost & conditions
No charge. The weekly bulky item, the two-tire allowance and the green waste containers are part of the city collection rather than priced extras. Only the rubbish itself carries a cost, because it has to be in City of Utica blue bags bought at stores around the city, and the printed brochure prices a large bag at $1.95 and a small bag at $1.35.
Arrange it
Set everything out between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night before your collection day and pull the containers back afterwards. Call 315-731-0238 to confirm the collection night, or the city public works department on 315-738-1341 about green waste collection.
One bulk item per building per week, one cubic yard of rubbish for a single family, two car tires a week with no truck tires, and no 55-gallon drums, pianos, safes, propane tanks or oil tanks at any time.

No charge. The Authority's reuse list is a set of donation outlets rather than a paid service, and the Authority notes that some of the organisations will arrange to pick donated items up. Each outlet sets its own terms, so confirm acceptance directly.

These are independent thrift, charity and second-hand stores, not Authority facilities, and each one sets its own condition standards and hours. Nothing on the list takes an item that no longer works.

Resident rates only, with businesses directed to the Authority office, and loads must be tarped or an extra fee is added. The facility is designed for special or one-time waste and to serve residents who may not subscribe to a collection system.
