When & how
The city takes the appliance on the scheduled monthly bulk Friday, and the county appliance amnesty weekend is published for Thursday Oct. 1 and Friday Oct. 2 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with confirmation available at the same number.
Get it ready
Keep metal appliances in a separate pile from the rest of the bulk load, because a different truck collects the metal, and put the appliance out by 6:30 a.m. on the scheduled day. Do not mix an air conditioner, HVAC part, hot tub, spa, piano or pool table into the pile, because the city refuses all of those and expects a private hauler instead.
Out by 6:30 a.m., and the container back in by 8 a.m. the next day
Containers and bulk items are at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the collection day, and the container comes back in from the curb line, alley or front yard no later than 8 a.m. the day after collection. The city notes that a household has a collection day rather than a collection time.
Metal appliances and other metal pieces are kept separate from the rest of the bulk load, because a different truck collects the metal on the same scheduled day. Yard waste is separated from everything else as well, and cut and tied into four foot lengths no more than eighteen inches in diameter.

Proof of residency is required and commercial or business material is refused. In the hazardous program, asbestos, explosives such as old ammunition and flares, pharmaceuticals and medical waste, radioactive material, cylinders other than propane and any item over twenty five pounds or fifteen gallons are refused. Electronics loads may not include large appliances, hazardous material, chemicals, CDs, VHS tapes or styrofoam packing, and all incoming truck or trailer loads must be tarped before entering the site.
Household hazardous waste runs 1 to 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month from November through February and every Tuesday from March through October under the green recycling canopy, the published appliance amnesty hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 1 and Friday Oct. 2 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 3, and the county does not publish its general public gate hours with these programme pages, so confirm before a trip.
