The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

No charge. Free electronics recycling at the Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Station for Montgomery County residents, with the accepted list covering computers, monitors, televisions, VCRs, DVD and CD players, speakers, fax machines, telephones and cell phones, microwaves, copiers, small countertop appliances, and cords, cables and holiday string lights.
When & how
The county publishes the transfer station location and hours with the solid waste department, and the city's own guidelines page sends residents there rather than collecting electronics on the curbside routes.
Get it ready
Wipe or remove the drive before recycling a computer or television, take the cords and cables with the device, and keep large appliances such as refrigerators and freezers out of the electronics load because the county refuses them there. Hazardous materials, chemicals, CDs, VHS tapes and styrofoam packing are refused as well.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Electronics recycling and household hazardous waste disposal are free to county residents with proof of residency, ten scrap tires a year are free, and a large appliance is free only during the twice yearly amnesty weekend and pays the normal disposal fee on other days, so confirm what applies before loading.
Arrange it
Bring the load to 1001 Encrete Lane in Moraine with proof of residency, keep the containers sealed and labelled for hazardous products, carry the hazardous load in the trunk, and arrive well before the posted closing time because the gates close promptly.
No commercial or business material, no asbestos, explosives, pharmaceuticals, medical waste, radioactive material or cylinders other than propane, no item over twenty five pounds or fifteen gallons in the hazardous program, no large appliance or hazardous material in the electronics load, and no truck, farm implement or oversized tires.
Electronics including computers, monitors, televisions, VCRs, DVD and CD players, speakers, fax machines, phones, microwaves, copiers, small countertop appliances and cords, batteries of all types, household cleaners, mineral spirits, latex and oil based paints, pesticides and herbicides, photographic chemicals, pool chemicals, thinners and strippers, varnishes and stains, vehicle fluids, fertilizers, fire extinguishers, fluorescent lights, propane tanks, heavy metals, up to ten scrap passenger or pick-up tires a year, and large appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, water heaters and stoves.
Proof of residency is required and commercial or business material is refused. In the hazardous program, asbestos, explosives such as old ammunition and flares, pharmaceuticals and medical waste, radioactive material, cylinders other than propane and any item over twenty five pounds or fifteen gallons are refused. Electronics loads may not include large appliances, hazardous material, chemicals, CDs, VHS tapes or styrofoam packing, and all incoming truck or trailer loads must be tarped before entering the site.
Household hazardous waste runs 1 to 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month from November through February and every Tuesday from March through October under the green recycling canopy, the published appliance amnesty hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 1 and Friday Oct. 2 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 3, and the county does not publish its general public gate hours with these programme pages, so confirm before a trip.

Does my old TV have to work?+
Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
