Desks and bookshelves
Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

One Friday a month by appointment, with the address collection day moving back one day in a holiday week.
Get it ready
Leave the piece assembled, put it out by 6:30 a.m. on the scheduled day in front of the home or at the alley line depending on where the regular collection runs, and keep it five feet from cars, mailboxes and trees with three feet between containers and the pile.

Containers and bulk items are at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the collection day, and the container comes back in from the curb line, alley or front yard no later than 8 a.m. the day after collection. The city notes that a household has a collection day rather than a collection time.
Carpet is rolled into a bundle four feet long and two feet in diameter and tied with rope, furniture is left assembled, loose and small items are securely contained, bundled or bagged, and broken glass is taped with the resident cleaning up any glass residue left in front of the home.

Arrange it
Call or submit the request before the monthly bulk Friday, put the load out by 6:30 a.m. on the scheduled day, keep metal in a separate pile, and leave furniture assembled.
Five large items or up to twenty five small bags or boxes per pickup, once a month, no material from an eviction, move out or foreclosure, and no hazardous or flammable products, automotive parts, excavating and building materials, pianos, HVAC parts, air conditioners, spas, hot tubs or pool tables.
