The local disposal guide
Ardmore separates routine trash from everything else. Household waste goes in a city supplied polycart that is collected once a week, and the cart is the only container the crew will empty. Bulky material runs on a different program entirely. Operation Pride sweeps each section of the city about every eight weeks for residential dwellings on city water service, collects furniture, appliances without refrigerant, brush, wood and up to four tires a residence each year, and the same program keeps a drop-off center open six days a week for residents who do not want to wait for the route. The division of labour matters: brush, boards, metal and other non household waste may not go in the polycart, hazardous material, asbestos, chemicals and lead based paint are refused by Operation Pride, and contractors have to haul their own project debris to the regional landfill.
