The local disposal guide
Lawton runs its own collection and landfill through the Solid Waste Division, with trash picked up once a week and bulky waste collected once a month for one and two family homes with active utility accounts. Furniture, mattresses, carpet, large electronics and appliances are all on the collectable bulky list, four cubic yards go out at no additional fee, and refrigerators and air conditioners need the refrigerant evacuated and tagged by a licensed HVAC professional before collection. Anything the monthly route will not take, including tires, construction debris, automotive batteries and waste oil, can be hauled to the city landfill on SW 11th Street, where residential loads have a tipping fee exemption once a quarter, and the annual Trash Off event adds a drop-off day for paint, batteries, tires, fire extinguishers and documents for shredding.
