York runs curbside collection twice a week through one contracted hauler and adds a scheduled large item service that residents book directly with Public Works. Most furniture and appliances can be scheduled at no extra charge, while televisions and computers are barred from collection by state law and go to the county drop-off program instead.
York schedules large household items year round at no extra charge, with a limit of five approved items each week and a booking window of seven to ten days.

Empty fuel and fluids, remove propane tanks, and tie loose metal parts together so the crew can lift the load safely. Keep car parts and metal poles with concrete attached out of the booking, because the city refuses those.
Residents may put two passenger tires off the rim in the regular trash, each replacing a bag, while tires still on the rim have to be scheduled.

Cut lumber down and bundle it securely at no more than three feet long and 40 pounds, with each bundle replacing one bag in the limit. Keep bricks, concrete, stone, dirt, shingles, car parts, garage doors and metal poles with concrete attached out of the booking entirely.
York runs a dedicated yard waste collection each year from March 1 through December 15, weather permitting, with one yard waste crew working each refuse district.
